Description
This is a wonderful 60 hectare (148 acres) farm surrounded by beautiful views, a lot of nature and really good hearted people. The farm has been in our family for almost 30 years. Now we are trying to improve it because in the near future we want to have a glamping place here.
The farm is an hour away from Melgar, a town 2 hours away from Bogotá. You can arrive easily by bus to Melgar. To get to the farm there are two options: There is a bus which costs 2,000COP that brings you from Melgar’s bus station to the town. From there is a bus that runs on Tuesdays and Fridays and is 8,000COP. The other better option is to go with a trusted taxi that we can call for you at anytime and will cost 40,000COP. The weather is really nice: warm during the day, and not so cold at night. The farm is 1.600 mts.
We receive workawayers of any kind who love farm working and nature. Even though we have specific activities we want workawayers do, we are more than welcome to receive people with new, different and even crazy ideas.
You can plant trees, take care of the gardens, help with construction projects, learn how to make fences or even try to build a new shelter. We are also trying to repair some parts of the house. We are not experts, but try to do our best.
My wife Paola and I (Ivan) live in Bogotá and visit the farm on weekends. But we have a lovely family of farmers who are in charge of the farm - Pablo, Paola and their two daughters are going to host you, coordinate your activities and help you have a pleasant stay. We will be in touch everyday in order to help you as much as we can.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

It is a very good place to learn how farmers live in Colombia. You will meet very kind and easygoing people always willing to help you and teach you about how to take care of animals and how to plant.

We have a room with a bunk bed and a private bathroom (maybe a third bed available). We will provide you clean sheets, blankets and a pillow. It is possible that there would be other accommodation available in cases where there is more than two people.
You will get a hot coffee in the morning, as well as breakfast and lunch similar to what people eat here. Dinner is not provided because it is difficult to make enough food for everyone at night when hosts are often out. You will need to buy groceries or order food for dinner but the kitchen utilities are at your disposal anytime.
You can cook your own meals if you have any special diet; also we can help you if you need any specific food. We expect volunteers to help prepare all meals and clean dishes.
*** KEEP AN EYE ON THIS***
As a volunteer, you have to keep your space and common spaces clean and organized. You also need to bring your own bathroom products and clean your own clothes. We don’t have a person to do that and sometimes we feel that volunteers think this is kind of a hotel. We open our farm to everyone who wants to be part of this experience. And those things make part of the experience. Hope you understand. ;)Autres infos...
*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️ The farm is not close to a town or a city. The closer cities are Melgar and Iconozco (Tolima), around 1 hour away by bus.
*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️ You can go to Melgar and Icononzo everyday by bus at specific hours.
*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️ You can go walking around in your freetime, maybe go hiking or meeting local people. It would be really fun if you can give locals some English classes.Informations complémentaires

I can really recomed this.
I spent an enjoyable week at Ivan's finca. Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet Ivan but Pablo, Paola and their family made me feel very welcome and they took good care of me.
Mostly, I helped Pablo with gardening and also spent time picking coffee beans and running the machine to crush them. The work was relaxing and… read more
