  • Description

    Description

I come originally from Prague, Czech Republic and I currently live alone with my dog and cat in a large three-floor historic house in the Tuscan countryside, in the province of Arezzo, Italy. The house dates back to the 14th century and used to be a former convent connected by a wall to a small church next door, which gives the place a very unique atmosphere.

The house belongs to close friends of mine, who entrusted me with taking care of it and bringing life back to the place. I have been living here for the past year, slowly creating a peaceful and creative home surrounded by nature.

I moved here from the city because I wanted to slow down, live closer to nature, and have more space for making music and creating. I work mostly from home on my computer, and besides that I write songs, sing, draw, enjoy long walks, and spend a lot of time taking care of the house and garden.

The house is surrounded by beautiful Tuscan hills and nature. It is peaceful, private, and quiet, but still not too far from the nearest village. The area is great for hiking and exploring, with many beautiful medieval towns nearby, and the Camino di San Francesco passes not far from here. There is good bus transportation in the area, although having a car is definitely an advantage.

The atmosphere here is calm, relaxed, and creative. Artists and intellectuals lived here in the past, and the house still has that feeling. There are books everywhere, a large terrace, lots of nature around, and plenty of space to slow down, think, create, rest, or focus on your own projects. At the same time, I also enjoy sharing meals or conversations together — so I would describe the vibe as somewhere between peaceful and lightly social. I value mutual respect, personal space, and a relaxed atmosphere at home.

I speak Czech and English fluently and can also communicate in Italian.

I’m looking for independent and practical people who enjoy nature, animals, and hands-on everyday life in the countryside. There is always something to do around the house and garden.

    Main help currently includes:

    mowing grass
    weeding
    trimming bushes
    general garden care
helping with light care and refreshing of shared indoor spaces
helping organize and clean one room which used to be a painter’s studio

The focus is on helping with the ongoing care of the house and garden, keeping spaces pleasant, lived-in, and well cared for, rather than any structured renovation tasks. It’s more about everyday care, tidying, and creative improvements of the environment.

I also create music and draw, so there is a creative atmosphere in the house. I’m open to sharing ideas and there may also be possibilities for creative exchanges or informal collaboration on artistic projects.

There may also be some occasional small creative DIY or garden improvement projects in the future for people who enjoy practical help, depending on skills and interest.

The schedule is mostly flexible and based on agreement. I usually expect around 4–5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week, depending on the season and ongoing projects.

In exchange, I offer accommodation in one or two guest bedrooms on the third floor. Guests have their own shower and toilet there. On the first floor there is a shared kitchen and common living space. Internet is available, and trips around the area are possible depending on plans and agreement.

I live with a female Australian Shepherd and a young cute cat. People who like animals will probably enjoy being here. It is also possible to come with your own dog, as long as they are friendly and get along well with another dog — actually it would be lovely if they enjoy time together.

One important thing to mention: this is a very old historic house. Some things are rustic and imperfect, and this is definitely not a hotel experience. The house is being slowly maintained and cared for over time, in a very relaxed and natural way. Because the house is large, I also appreciate when people naturally help keep shared spaces reasonably clean during their stay.

This place is probably best for people who want to slow down for a while, enjoy nature and quiet, and experience a more authentic and simple way of living in Tuscany.

Living here is less about tourism and more about experiencing everyday life in the Tuscan countryside in a relaxed and authentic way. I’m happy to share local tips, walks, nearby medieval towns, food culture, music, conversations, and the atmosphere of this unique historic place.

At home we sometimes cook together, share meals, spend time on the terrace, go for walks, or explore the surrounding area. From time to time, I also enjoy organizing small informal gatherings with local friends, which can be a nice opportunity to meet people from the area and experience a bit of local social life.

At the same time, I fully respect personal space and quiet time, so there is no pressure to constantly socialize.

I enjoy cultural exchange because it naturally brings new perspectives, ideas, and ways of seeing the world. I’m happy to share my experience of living in a historic house in the Tuscan countryside, working remotely, and combining a slower lifestyle with music and creative work.

Since I create music and draw, and I’m open to informal creative exchange or small shared projects depending on people, skills, and inspiration at the moment — for example simple artistic collaboration, idea sharing, or creative experimentation in a relaxed way.

I’m also interested in learning from Workawayers’ backgrounds, skills, and cultures, whether through everyday conversations, shared activities, or simple moments of life together.

Workawayers here would mostly help with practical everyday tasks around the house and garden. Main tasks include mowing grass, weeding, trimming bushes, general garden care, helping keep shared indoor spaces tidy and pleasant, and occasional light organization of rooms.

The focus is on ongoing care of the house and garden and helping to maintain a calm, lived-in environment.

The tasks are usually flexible and based on agreement. Sometimes we may do them together, sometimes independently, depending on the task and the moment. This place is probably best for people who enjoy nature, slower living, and hands-on everyday life in a peaceful countryside setting.

I also create music and draw in my free time, so the house has a naturally creative atmosphere. I’m happy to share local tips, music, conversations, meals, walks, and a bit of everyday life in Tuscany. Depending on the people and timing, there may also be space for informal creative exchange or simple shared inspiration around art and ideas.

This place may especially suit creative people, remote workers, artists, writers, musicians, or anyone looking for a quieter and more inspiring environment for a while.

At the same time, I appreciate people who are naturally considerate in shared spaces and comfortable with a more simple, authentic countryside lifestyle rather than luxury or highly structured hosting.

  • Hébergement

    Hébergement

Workawayers will stay in one of two guest bedrooms on the third floor of the house. Guests have access to their own shower and toilet on the same floor, which is separate from my personal space. The rooms are simple, comfortable, and quiet, with a peaceful atmosphere and views of the surrounding countryside.

Please keep in mind that this is a very old historic Tuscan house, not a hotel or luxury accommodation. Some things are rustic and imperfect, but the space is clean, welcoming, and full of character. There is no air conditioning in the house, but the thick old stone walls help keep temperatures naturally cooler during summer.

There is a shared kitchen and common living area on the first floor, as well as a large terrace and outdoor spaces around the house.

Food can be flexible depending on schedules and preferences. We can often share lunches or dinners together, while breakfast is usually more individual since I tend to wake up very early. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and prepare their own meals as well. I appreciate open communication and a natural shared approach to everyday living.

For time off, Workawayers can enjoy the beautiful surrounding Tuscan countryside. There are many stunning historic towns nearby, such as Anghiari, Arezzo, Citerna, Gubbio and many others, which are within relatively easy reach. The coast and the sea are about 2.5 to 3 hours away by car, making it possible to plan longer day trips or weekend excursions.

The area is well connected by bus, with regular links to nearby villages as well as larger towns and cities.

A section of the Camino di San Francesco also runs through this region, which makes it a great area for walking, hiking, and exploring nature on foot. Overall, the location is ideal for people who enjoy history, small medieval towns, nature, and discovering authentic parts of Tuscany and Umbria.

The house can work well for digital nomads or remote workers looking for a quieter and more creative environment. I also work remotely from home myself, so I understand the need for space and flexibility during the day. One thing to know in advance is that this is a very old stone house with extremely thick walls, so the internet connection can vary depending on where you are in the house. There are areas where the connection works very well and other spots where it can be weaker. In general, it is manageable for remote work, but it may not be ideal for people who need a perfectly stable connection everywhere at all times.

There is a large meadow directly next to the house where campers or motorhomes can park comfortably in a quiet natural setting. Please note that there is currently no electricity connection available outside for campers on the meadow. However, guests are welcome to use the facilities inside the house.

Friendly dogs are welcome, especially if they are social, calm, and get along well with other animals. I live with a female Australian Shepherd and a young affectionate cat, so it is important that visiting dogs are comfortable around both dogs and cats. It would actually be lovely if the dogs could play together and enjoy the outdoor space around the house. Because this is a quiet shared environment, I appreciate pets that are reasonably well-behaved and not overly aggressive or destructive indoors.
