Description
If you love animals, horses and gardening you'll love our small farm. Located on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, BC, it's nestled between the ocean and mountains, a 40 minute ferry ride from Vancouver.
You may be greeted by Tetely the pig, Skittles the goat, or Eyore the donkey.
When our children were leaving home for University, my husband, a retired Professor, and myself, a horticulturist, set up a Farm Adventure Program.
Our goal to introduce the public to happy, friendly, farm animals and horses. We currently have approximately 100, 2 & 4 legged animals running around, including horses, ponies, llama, mini horse, mini donkeys, pig, dwarf goat, peacocks, turkeys, assorted chickens/bantams, ducks, micro pigs, African goose, guinea pigs, bunnies, and our Andalusian horses whom we had been breeding for 17 years (now semi retired).
Not believing in cages, the majority of our animals roam free, though we do have a large room (petting pen) housing adorable bunnies, guinea pigs, pigeons, chicks,; bringing smiles to children and the young of heart, with our petting pen.
We would like to share our farm, animals, horses, gardens, as well as our unique natural setting with like minded Wwoofers. In particular, individuals knowledgeable and enthusiastic about working with farm animals, horses, children or carpentry-outdoor projects.
Those who are positive, open minded, flexible with working hours, enjoy working hard outdoors, getting their hands dirty, and are okay with a goat coming in for a short visit. Horse, child, handy man experience a plus.
Please note our home is a farm house with 3 large dogs coming in, we love to read, hence a lot of clutter. It can be a bit chaotic. Wwoofers have one large bedroom with 3 beds, plus an a joining small bedroom room, their own shower. Also have a large bedroom attached to the house. Generally have 4-6 helpers, who often become great friends, exploring the Coast together on their time off.
Make yourself at home!
Duties for those with horse experience include: trail rides, pony rides, lessons, option of learning farm adventure tours, house/barn cleaning.
Those with animal and child experience include: farm adventure tours, birthdays, petting farm, learning to work with ponies/horses, house/barn cleaning.
With handyman experience include farm maintenance./carpentry. As we are a small farm, these duties are often combined. Option to learn about horses & farm adventure tours.
There is also a travel trailer with 2 beds at our very private , stunningly beautiful waterfront acreage, which is ideal for a couple with a vehicle.
ps Fabulous horseback, mountain bike, and hiking trails in our extended back yard waiting to be explored. You are welcome to ride our horses/mountain bikes/kayaks (at our beach) on your time off.
Please note to reach our farm by public transit from Vancouver, take the Horseshoe Bay express, #257, stops at Granville to Georgia (City Centre skytrain stop) in front of the Bay store. Take this bus to the terminus at the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal, then catch the Langdale (Gibsons) ferry. If you let us know which ferry you will be on a couple days ahead , we will pick you up at the Langdale ferry terminal.
Renumeration totalling minimum wage, is paid to long term helpers as well as complimentary accommodation in our travel trailer-you require a vehicle. If you prefer we have rooms/board available at our farm. Hours are 8:45-4:15 four days per week, then 3 hours on the 5th day so you have extra time to explore, ride, or rest.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Unfortunately, I had to leave the farm after 10 days because of various reasons. Mostly, because of my health. I have some asthma and the room I was staying in was really moist which made it difficult for me not to feel unwell.

Thanks for great 6 weeks.
With your welcoming and loving personality you made me feel like home from the first day on. Even if it was often busy and hard work, cobbler, campfires at the beach and multilingual scrabble games made it totally worth it.
