Description
Our program is a US-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that addresses the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters by engaging and leveraging volunteers, partner organizations, and local communities. Our organization arrives early for the first response and stays late to rebuild schools and homes in a disaster-resilient way.
We have been on the ground in the Philippines for a few years, working with local organizations to support the communities affected by so many typhoons. Our program is seeking volunteers to help with building a new disaster-resilient building with bamboo technology and WASH facilities for a local school in Salvacion on the Catanduanes Island. These two classrooms will serve over 90 students.
We provide 3 meals a day on each working day and accommodation for the duration of your stay. We live in a communal house with 4-6 bunk beds in each room. Volunteers are responsible for all other expenses, including travel to and from the Philippines, as well as transportation to our base.
We have a wifi on base but no phone reception in the village. -

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
Living and working in the Philippines provides a rich cultural exchange. A local community is incredibly welcoming and is always wanting to teach you about their culture and learn from you. On top of a unique cultural experience, you will also gain new construction knowledge because we will teach you everything you need to know to finish specific tasks. So do not worry about not having previous construction experience.

Autres infos...
We recommend flying to Virac and then taking a public van to Salvacion, where our base is located. The bus journey to our base can take about 2 hours. There are no ATM's in Salvacion, so we recommend bringing cash and any other necessary items, as the options are limited in the village.
