Victoria-by-the-Sea is a centrally located seaside village on the south shore of Prince Edward Island. The Village is ideally situated halfway between Charlottetown and Summerside, and 20km from the Confederation Bridge. The Village has a population of 100 residents that increases to 135 in the summer time. The village is a vibrant engaged community which values its rich heritage and unique rural setting. The central core of the village is laid out in a grid pattern with 3 streets running north and south and three streets running east and west. Fishing and farming have historically been the major industries, however tourism has developed significantly in the past twenty years. Victoria has become a busy tourism destination during the summer months. Artists and craftspeople have set up home based businesses and along with the development of a summer theatre festival in the community hall, Victoria has become a cultural hub of the South Shore. Where possible, I will act as a guide and interpreter of local culture. There are many things that can be learned in a small, beautiful, fishing/farming village, on Prince Edward Island.

Aide
The objective of hosting a Workawayer is to help provide assistance with my perennial flower beds, some cooking (if possible) and some general house tasks

Langues parlées
Anglais: Courant

Hébergement
The Workawayer will have a bedroom/bathroom on the second floor during their stay. Regarding food, I love to cook and everyone will be well looked after. Also, Workawayers will have access to areas in the kitchen for their own private foods.

Autres infos...
In the summertime, PEI is vibrant with theatre (we have a local theatre in Victoria-by-the-Sea) music (PEI is famous for incredible musicians) and local ceilidh's. There is also lots of things happening within the village, usually at Island Chocolates. There is a local bus to the main city of Charlottetown and Summerside, but more likely Workawayers will be able to hitch a ride with any of the locals. The fall/winter is a quiet time - card parties with some community get-togethers.

Jean is a phenomal host, she showed me a lot of places across the island and can tell so many things about the history like Anna Green gables. My mainly tasks was to help with the little chocolate labrador because the weather was still to nasty to do something outside in the garden in March/April. But this little guy can… read more
