Description
🌿 Welcome to Our Little Green Corner of Costa Rica
Nestled in the rolling green hills behind the Karen Mogensen Nature Reserve, our small rural village is a peaceful haven where life still flows at a gentle, authentic pace .
This is real Costa Rica, refreshingly non-touristy, yet within just a 30-minute drive you can reach a few quiet, palm-fringed beaches for a perfect day by the sea. On our own property, a seasonal river with small waterfalls (from May to December) brings life and music to the valley. Wildlife is part of daily life here: howler monkeys swing through the trees, coatis and iguanas wander by, and every so often, even a curious puma or a pair of coyotes passes through the hills.
We’re lucky to live in one of the sunniest regions of Costa Rica with bright days, starry nights, and no emergency weather situations🌞
Our home is off the beaten path and perfect for those who value quiet time and emerge in nature in a rural village. Volunteers who enjoy keeping themselves busy with reading, writing, drawing, yoga, or peaceful walks will love it here. There is an easy jungle trail leading to the river, cozy hammocks for lazy afternoons, and high-speed fiber optic internet for those who need to stay connected.
We love to explore new places ourselves and are always happy to help volunteers explore the region.
To preserve the natural peace of this place, no loud music is allowed on the property. The jungle soundtrack of birds, frogs, and crickets is music enough. 🎶
If you’re looking for a place surrounded by nature, a spot where the jungle, reforestation, and pura vida truly meet, then we’d love to welcome you here. 🌱💚

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
Before settling down in Costa Rica, we traveled to over 40 countries and love learning about other cultures and perspectives. Workawayers who join us will find plenty of space for cultural exchange, whether it’s cooking plant-based meals together, sharing travel stories, or simply learning from each other’s backgrounds.
We’re also active in our small community. In December we will organize another spay & neuter clinic for cats and dogs, which has become an important event for local families. Volunteers staying with us at that time (Dec 7th) are welcome to get involved and experience this unique aspect of rural Costa Rican life.
Aide
We’re a small team of two running a hands-on reforestation project and cultivating a small organic vegetable garden tucked away in nature. It’s not a big social hub, rather a peaceful place for those who love quiet days, meaningful work, and the sounds of the jungle.
There’s always something to do, and tasks are flexible depending on your interests and skills:
🌱 Light tasks: gardening (weeding, watering, planting), preparing delicious vegan meals, and keeping our outdoor spaces happy.
💪 Physical tasks: clearing pasture overgrown with tall grass to prepare new areas for tree planting.
🪵 Creative projects: sanding, assembling furniture or building small wooden structures — perfect for handy volunteers who love to tinker.
We try to match tasks with what you enjoy most whether that’s working with plants, wood, or food!
Because of the warm tropical climate, we usually start early and take things at a relaxed pace. After you’ve had breakfast in your cabin, we meet for a morning coffee and briefing around 7 a.m. (or earlier if you prefer cooler hours).
You’re free to plan your own breaks and lunch, which you prepare in your cabin. Afternoons are usually reserved for relaxing, reading, exploring the property or the region or simply enjoying the hammocks. On workdays we usually share dinner together at the house , a lovely time to unwind, chat, and exchange stories about the day.
You can choose your two days off per week. It’s a gentle rhythm that balances meaningful contribution with plenty of personal time so ideal for volunteers who appreciate independence, peace, and a slower way of living in nature.
A few things to know:
🌿 We follow a plant-based lifestyle, so only vegan or vegetarian food is allowed on the property.
💚 The place is not touristy, so not for everyone. It is however perfect for those who crave peace, nature, and authenticity over crowds and we are always more than happy to help you explore the region.
If you love the idea of helping the planet, getting your hands a little dirty, and finding magic in the simple jungle life we’d love to hear from you!
