  Description

  In the picturesque apple and wine region of Harcourt, our 1.5-acre property is just 10 minutes from Castlemaine—a vibrant country town known for its thriving music, arts, and permaculture community. Harcourt sits at the base of Leanganook (Mt Alexander), offering many walking and mountain biking trails.
  
  Our property is a private residence that also includes a yurt, used as accommodation for Workawayers and friends. Surrounded by orchards and horse paddocks, and featuring a sizeable veggie garden, we share our space with two ponies, a friendly dog, a cat, and plenty of noisy frogs!
  
  Living Arrangements:
  The property is home to one adult, two children, and a rotating group of permaculture professionals (friends) who use one of the offices a few days a week. As Workawayers, you would stay in our yurt, which has its own kitchen and bathroom, including a composting toilet. You’ll need to be comfortable with occasional maintenance and cleaning of the toilet.
  
  There are a few local cafés and a pub, along with several cellar-door wineries in the village of Harcourt. The bus to Castlemaine takes about 10 minutes but runs only a few times a day. We also have a bicycle available, which takes about 35 minutes to reach Castlemaine town. Having a car would be an advantage if you’d like to explore the surrounding towns and countryside.

  We’d love to welcome people who enjoy a hands-on lifestyle and hanging out with animals, especially ponies! As a permaculture-inspired property, you will learn about the principles and be inspired by the permaculture professionals who share it.

  Currently, we are accepting self-catering helpers—you’ll need to bring your own food (condiments and kitchen utensils are provided). This arrangement would particularly suit couples or travelling friends who are looking for a break from hostels, happy to do minimal work, and keen to explore the local food and wine scene.
