Description
I'm german, I lived for more than 20y in France now. Our family have been moving a lot through France and travelling in Africa, India.. We settled down in the region for 15 years and love the area. My husband and I separate and I live half of the time with my children. I have two daughters, one of them is still living with me half of the month, she's 17. My older one has been overseas for a while and she's studying in Clermont Ferrand.
I studied Art in Germany. I am an autodidact in Ceramics, Pottery, Wool working and so on.
I choose to live in a authentic wild nature. At the moment my project is to renovate an old ruin, that I bought 5 years ago. We moved in, september 2017. This is a huge work that I did mostly by myself, with the precious help of friends and travellers.
My approach in a few words is to : recycle, ecologically, selfmade, artistic, preserve the beauty of the old traditional place..
So the project is also an artistic expression for every solution I have to find, as most part of the big job is done, there is more and more space for artistic and artisanal work.
I am looking forward to finish the house so I can start with something new and go on with selling my artstuff !
I met a lot of nice people to help me out and share nice times by living together. I enjoy receiving people at my place, sharing stories. My hosts are part of the familly.
In winter, there is a cosy fireplace (the house wood heated, and hopefully soon with solar :-)) ), in summer we enjoy the sunny garden and the beautiful view.
About organisation :
Until now, I have been working daily around the house, morning and afternoon except weekends.
When I receive helpers, I expect about 5 hours/day, weekends not included.
I think sometimes it is more confortable to do those hours in the morning, or, in the afternoon so we can have half day free, to plan something together/or not (go sightseeing in beautiful areas around here, meet friends..), up to you.
However, I am flexibl and we can decide the organisation together if it doesn't fit to you that way.
As I said, I enjoy receiving people but I expect helpers to be part of preparing meals as I am vegeterian and I do homemade meals made from fresh veggies. This time is not considered as working time.
(Note for foreigners : here we usually eat 3 meals a day) Of course.. coffee/tea breaks.
Internet is coming through my phone. It is limited for emails et websurfing, but NOT to watch videos or movies, for the moment.

Summer is a great time here, the region is active with theater/music festivals, concerts, shows..
Also great vegetarian cooking
I can help you with languages of course
ON saturdays I go to the Farmer's market in Lodève, where I can take you with me. It's a really nice market, I meet a lot of my (German/English friends) there.. I have to say it is more a chating time then actual shopping :-)
At weekends I go neo-folk-dancing wich is a great experience, travellers love it.
Singing circles, where you're always welcome if you're interested, bajhan and rainbow songs.
You will be learning ecological building, by any job.

Aide
Depends on what you feel like doing and your skills. There always something to do for anyone here ! But it is mostly a building place. We will be working together most of the time.
There's some (permaculture) gardening that needs to be done, lime coating ++/earth based coating, welding, general maintenance : painting, cleaning
Wood work +++ : build a wood shelter to storage the firewood, build compost toilets, balustrad, small gate for the garden.. wood workers very welcome !!!

Hébergement
Depends on the time of year and where you feel better : when my daughter is at home you will have a space wich is open during daytime to the kitchen and living room. I am almost done with the guest room... perhaps you can come and help me to finish it... so you could use it :-)
When she's not here there is a room available for you.
In the summer you can also sleep in a tent in the garden if you want to.

You have to know, this is a remote place (small countryside village). In summertime there are things going on several times a week in the villages around, and in Lodève wich is the next small town where I go shopping
Famous touristic places on the Larzac are the old templars ++, cirque de Navacelles, La couvertoirade .. just a few Km from here
Otherwise, there is a bus station a few KM away, that will bring you for just about 1,50euro to the whole region (Hérault) so to Montpellier, and to the mediteranen seaside from there. I can eventually drive you to the bus station. Otherwise I can borrow you a bike.
Nearby there are wonderfull lake, and rivers.. Have a look on the internet for pictures of " lac du Salagou " : you can rent a kayak, windsurf and so on..
Millau ( 40km) is a famous place for any kind of outdoor sports (climbing, bungee jumping++).
Gorges du Tarn (Aveyron) is a wonderful place to hike and enjoy the river
