  Description

  Hello fellow Workawayers! I am Fiona, a 21 year old who just recently graduated and have entered my "gap year" and am currently living at home on the South Shore of Nova Scotia with my parents and our two dogs. I am running this account for my parents. Having participated in a Workaway myself, I am eager to host individuals who are interested in coming to Canada. I believe experiencing life like a local is the best way to travel and form relationships. We are an active family of four, but tend to procrastinate when it comes to home projects... looking for someone to lend a hand around the house! We are an hour and a half away from Halifax, located on what is referred to as the South Shore. Let salt air, and stunning scenery surround you as you drive along the lighthouse route to Peggys Cove, and the charming towns of Chester and Mahone Bay. Then step back in time in historic Lunenburg, with its distinctive waterfront and colourful buildings. Old Town Lunenburg is designated as an UNESCO world heritage site, attracting visitors from around the globe. It is truly a very special region filled with history, art, local shops, and restaurants, so come on over and explore our region of the Maritimes!

  Staying with our small family, you will have the chance to explore the area as well as spend time on the beaches nearby. There are plenty of hiking trails and lots of opportunity for water sports. Close to home The Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre is available for recreational sport, leisure and cultural activities, and library services. Every week there are multiple farmers markets around the South Shore. We speak English at home, although I would love someone to practice my French with. You will get to experience living with a Canadian family, and learn all about the east coast which is rich in culture and has many interesting traditions!

  Aide

  We are looking for someone who can help us with general maintenance of the house, property. We are looking to do some renovation projects and would need assistance, as we are not a very handy family... Some things we currently have in mind would be to help us redo our loft that we have above our garage. This would include, painting, some easy construction projects, building furniture, and helping us build an outdoor shower etc.. If you have a green thumb we could also use some assistance with overall property maintenance, and help with our gardens.

  In our home we eat our meals as a family. We enjoy cooking and do not mind meal modifications as we have previously hosted vegetarians. We are fairly easy going when it comes to sharing food and invite you to help yourself with whatever you desire.

  We live in a very popular tourist destination on the South Shore of Nova Scotia!
  Located about 20km/12miles from Lunenburg which is a UNESCO heritage site and home to the Bluenose II, there are lots of local artists, restaurants, bakeries, shops.. we believe there is truly something for everyone
  We are located about 5 minutes from the oceanfront and like to spend lots of time at the beach anytime of the year!
  We also have kayaks, and bikes that are available for your use. Many amazing hiking trails located near us, and throughout the province- we like everyone to have a good time and see what it is they hoped to see coming to Nova Scotia!
