I am George from Kenya, Homabay County, Mbita Sub-County.
Mbita Town is located at the lakeshore of Lake Victoria in Homa Bay County, Kenya. Fishing on Lake Victoria is the main economic activity in this area.

Our organization is currently implementing projects on economic empowerment of children, religion, youth and women, sustainable farming, health including HIV/AIDS prevention, and education in the Mbita area.

Being a christian based organization, our efforts to holistically minister to the people of Rusinga Island, Mbita Town, we operate a project; Kindergarten School which is currently at grade 3, to offer complementary efforts in support to the poor children who could not afford educational requirements. At the school, we have, the Chairman, Manager, Secretary and the three members from the organization as the people running the school.

Horticultural and fish farming are ongoing projects in Rinya, Sare Awendo through our organization. The resent demand for fish in the area has motivated the organization to construct fish pond as evidenced with the high demand of Tilapia.
And priority issue is Unemployment and lack of basic services for the youth and the whole community in Awendo, Rinya especially Kwar Village.
The organization also partners with small scale sugar cane farmers within Rinya, Sare Awendo to support the farmers through organizing seminars and encouraging them to enlarge their production.

We are working tireless to hosting various volunteers (Christians and NON CHRISTIANS) who can volunteer here for cultural exchange, educational exchange programs and moral support to regain the hopes of many living along the lake shore.

Through interaction, a lot of skills will be exchanged. Travellers would be able to learn how fisherfolk do their fishing activities here as a means of income, visit historical sites here and learn more through the sites. They will also enjoy our cultural meals and dressing mode.

At weekends you will be free to relax and visit places of interest in the whole region of Western Kenya area, visiting the Islands with Lake Victoria, visiting National parks and or travel more widely in Kenya. The people in the area surrounding the school are friendly and happy to get to know visitors.

We are near Lake Lake Victoria, where you can watch the wildlife or go to the beach. You can also trek climbing the nearest hills and mountains.

Aide
We are appealing to our friend, volunteers and well-wishers both locally and abroad to join us in shaping the minds of these young kids through educational program exchange, playing with them and training them on various activities. We would also request the travellers to meet the elderly in community, learn new language and cultural activities and give them hope as well.

We need volunteers have any expertise or skills on farming to come help us and exchange more on horticultural and fish farming.

Each volunteer has a different background, interests, and set of skills. Every volunteer is sure to have something to do that they like. We design volunteering programs so that they are all customized according to our needs and the volunteer’s preferences.
Volunteers are welcome for any period of time, whether on the short or long term. Volunteering programs will be made accordingly so that you can reach your objectives and ensure that you can contribute to the best of your capacity. We host volunteers starting with 2 months. The initial period is for 2 months. Each volunteer has a one week orientation period which he/she must go through.

Given our current programs, we are particularly interested in volunteers who want to work
- Help with online fundraising
-Help with photo and video shooting for our online documentation in the social media
-Building relationships with children and staff
- Creating and running developmental and sports games for the children out of school hours
- Playing a role in keeping the Farm and fish pond clean
- Helping children with homework and preparation for tests
- Providing a positive role model for children who have come from devastating backgrounds
- Running 'Bible studies' and teaching the children the love of God.

If you have any expertise or skills in a field of for example horticulture, fish farming, education, health or childcare you are more than welcome to realize your ideas and support the communities we work with. We believe that every volunteer comes with new ideas and can provide a great input for our organization. Do not hesitate to make suggestions.

Special Long term volunteers needed. The organization is looking for a volunteers from any part of the world to volunteer in management for a period of two to three years. Experience in management is an added advantage while a couple is preferred. You will enjoy as you work and stay with us.

Hébergement
Home stay. We love staying with our visitors in our homes. During their stay, we preserve for them their room and eat with them together. We prefer our meals, for they are cooked with our own people who are qualified.

The organization will provide accommodation and three meals a day for the volunteer.

Accommodation is lovely and comfortable. Come and stay in a place that is safe away from stress. The volunteers' stay with the host family and they do have their separate rooms. There is electricity and volunteers have access to a basic kitchen. Mosquito nets are provided. We are constantly improving the residence. It is a very nice site in the Kenya nature, and accommodation is comfortable and spacious.

Meals are composed of local cuisine. We have had a number of vegetarian and vegan volunteers, and can easily adapt to their diet.

Being that we are living a godly life, most of our helpers time off shall be used to visit the elderly, tour Lake Victoria, visit historical places and sharing with our neighbours who will also share more about their culture with our helps.
