Description
We are a fun loving family of five with lots of creative enthusiasm. We love nature, hiking and working with our hands. Just over seven years ago we moved to a beautiful 10 acre property just outside of the town of San Luis Obispo, CA. and need help caring for our animals and some basic help around the house.

We are a semi-international family who have travelled quite a bit and enjoy meeting new people and learning about new cultures. . We love reciprocating by sharing a bit of California life . Lorna is an artist and spends her days envisioning and designing projects on the property, hiking with her dogs and living her dream of doing art, gardening and having a whole managerie or "pets" around her. She enjoys building projects on weekends along side her husband Paul, a Physical Therapist, who has his practice in town. He loves surfing, his guitar and his little green tractor. Together we have created most of the beautiful spaces and structures on this property that are enjoyed by everyone who visits. We have three children, our eldest (the creative diva, Emrys wo has been living in Scotland for the past 9 years but returns often for a little more California sunshine, she gifted us with the most beautiful grandson, Shiloh who makes the whole room light up. Our son Isaac, 27 is a true nature boy, surfer, baker and travel adventurist and has finally left the nest for new adventures in animation in LA. Thankfully he is still close enough to return home often. He can give you all the best nature spots in our area and bakes a mean loaf of sour dough :). Our youngest, Petra is 24, lives in town but spends lots of time here with her horses and is thrilled to finally have her horse (and some goats and and pony) in her own backyard!! She is shy and quiet but thrives being around lively people, they might just bring her inner goofy out!). We have an amazing cattle dog Pluto who will hang out with you all day, especially if you throw him sticks and frisbees and the cutest ever Boston bulldogge, Astrid, who is Lorna's shadow. The latest puppy addition is Cozmo, the amazing American Hairless Terrier! He is a soulful, silly and full of joy. As for other critters, We have Dino, Mr. Friendly horse, Cookie the shy pony, Pepper and Nutmeg the naughty goats, two barn "not so feral" cats and a few of ducks and chickens.
We live in a beautiful coastal town with a lively downtown and many farmers markets all-around us. We also live near many wineries, beautiful hiking trails and are just a short 4 miles (6.3 km) to the beach!Aide
Your pet sit will include the daily routine of help feeding our two horses, two goats, cats, dogs and few chickens and ducks and collecting and enjoying their eggs every morning. . We appreciate keeping our animals happy and clean so we hope they get well loved, fed and appreciated as they areal part of our family.

We have a sweet little detached, private room with comfy bed and a small loft. We call it the Quail's Nest. It is very cozy and clean. You will have glorious outdoor shower (hot water) and a composting toilet. Attached to the Quail's Nest is an outdoor kitchen for your use. We will provide all of your ingredients for your meals during your stay here. We are happy to accommodate vegetarians and vegans or any other dietary needs.
We are in the countryside, peaceful and quiet with limited cell. It is quite a distance (10 miles, 16km) to get to town and anywhere basically. The beach is less than 4 miles, (6.3 km) away, most workawayers take full advantage of this by biking or walking (long walk) or driving if they have a car.
NOTE: A car is needed to get to most places but we offer up bikes for beaches and hiking trails. If you feel up to it, downtown is a 40 minute bike ride.
NOTE: We use low to no chemicals here on the farm and do NOT allow perfumes, scented laundry detergents or the like. Please be mindful of this while you are here. You are more than welcome to use our laundry soap :)Autres infos...
Having a car is helpful! Downtown San Luis Obispo is about 10 miles away, Avila beach is 4 miles away. there are many beautiful hiking trails, wineries to tour, biking routes, waves to surf and many beautiful beaches to enjoy. We live in a very "outdoorsy" community and value its small town charms and outdoor living. We will have bikes available to ride and happy to let you use them if they are operational ;) We are clean and tidy and respectful of others and our environment, we hope to have those attributes in our guests. We work hard and also value down time.
