  Description

  Hello workawayers!
  
  We are restoring our family home in a small town, Bernburg, in Saxony-Anhalt. There are all kinds of tasks to do and for you to choose whichever you enjoy - from gardening to painting, constructing, household tasks... We appreciate all your help and are happy about any ideas you might bring to our project!
  
  Who we are:
  Anna is a local vet and living in the house together with our dogs Lea & Coco and our turtles. Her free time she usually spends working around the house, once a week she goes to Yoga classes (you are welcome to join!), the gym and enjoys organ music in our local church. If you are interested, you could also join her from time to time to her clinic! The rest of the family is living all around Germany, with everyone being a frequent visitor to help with the project (see pictures below) :-)
  
  Side note: Anna is intermediate in English, she takes English classes once a week and is always happy to improve her English! The first message/contact you'll have with Marianne (26; Anna's daughter), she speaks English fluently.

  Our project plans for 2022:
  - declutter and renovate a little one- room hut, that was used as an observatory!
  - painting: new guest room, doors, windows, ....
  - make a wildflower patch for birds & insects // make a veggie patch
  - build a staircase in the garden
  - plant fruit trees
  
  Ongoing tasks you can always help with:
  - walk the dogs
  - help with the household & garden
  
  We like to make a list of projects for you to choose whichever you enjoy and are also always happy in case you have own ideas that you would like to bring in! :-)

  Hébergement

  You will have your own room and own bathroom in our house. We can host up to 4 workawayers at the same time indoors ( 2 couples / one family). Camping in the garden would also be possible - we get beautiful night skies.
  The other rooms like kitchen & living room we share.
  
  There is a swimming pool in the garden, which is great for taking a swim after or in between work!
  There are plenty of quiet spots in the garden to relax and enjoy.

  There is a lot to do and see during your free time!
  
  Area around:
  There is a direct connection from our garden to a riverside where you can directly go for walks or cycle tours in nature (Saale- Radweg) or you can rent a canoe nearby. We have two bikes that you can always use. Our city centre is very small and quiet. Still, you will find some shops, restaurants and the train station that you can reach within a 10-15min bike ride.
  
  The Harz mountains are very close by (45min- 1hr by car)- you can enjoy hikes in nature and discover beautiful historical towns (e.g. UNESCO world heritage Quedlinburg) -- Anna is always happy to give you tips or show you around the area herself!
  
  If you are interested in arts/architecture, the world - famous Bauhaus is just a 30-60min train ride away. Anna can also give you lots of tips on ongoing local art exhibitions, if you are interested.
  
  Weekend trip options (We can usually drop you at the nearest train station by car or join you on trips!)
  Halle - 30min by train
  Leipzig - 1hr by train
  Berlin - 2hrs by train
  
  On Sundays Anna usually goes on a trip in the surrounding area- you are more than welcome to join her!
  
  ... and if you would rather chill at home: we have a lot of space in the garden to put a hammock or simply relax at the pool!
