    Description

Hi im Rob owner of the guesthouse in Cape Town ,South Africa.
We are situated in Pinelands in Cape Town which is South Africa’s first garden city so it’s super green with lots of parks and trees and also very safe suburb of Cape Town . You can walk to the shops and gym freely without anyone bothering you !
We are ten minutes drive from Cape Town international airport and ten minutes drive into city centre!
I love surfing, nature and outdoors and hiking.
We love having volunteers help out at our humble guesthouse in Cape Town !

    Welcome to my profile :)

Caoe Town is a very diverse place (it looks like 3 countries in 1). You will find hot weather ,cold and mild all in one day ;)))

I'm polite and respectful so you can feel 100% safe here. You'll also have a private room. I like to live in peace and harmony. What I expect from my volunteers: Positive energy, being kind, peaceful, quiet, and clean. If you're passive-aggressive or toxic this project might not be suitable for you :)

    My place:
I live around 10km from downtown.
    - There is public transportation is at walking distance from my place. I can provide you with a private room. The bed is big enough for up to 2 people.
    - Shared kitchen
    - Shared bathroom
    - Hot shower (all day)
    - Free Wifi
    - Free Lunch (from Monday to Friday)
    - I've a washing machine
    - I have fruits and vegetables in the kitchen and you can use them as well for free (to prepare your breakfast or dinner).

There are so many things to do and explore in Cape Town

    - Cable cars: we don't have subways, we have cable cars and you can enjoy nice views. It is one of the largest cable cars in the world. If you take your time you can go around the city by cable cars in half a day (taking it easy).

Our team consists of my son James who manages the property for myself. He helps with the gardening staff and the maintenance of the guesthouse.
James is also a keen surfer and surf coach who loves showing our guests Cape Town and surrounds, so if you would like to learn to surf on your weekends off you are welcome!
I am in charge of the bookings and admin of the property .
We have a cleaner called Mavis who comes two times a week to clean .

volunteers will be able to live a real South African lifestyle , living and breathing our way of life .
At the heart of South African society is Ubuntu, a profound sense of communal identity, hospitality, and shared humanity. You will learn how local communities prioritize collective well-being, consensus-building, and deep reverence for both elders and ancestry.
South Africa provides a living history lesson. By engaging with locals and visiting sites like Robben Island or the Apartheid Museum, you will learn about the country’s journey through colonialism and apartheid. More importantly, you will experience first-hand how South Africans continually navigate reconciliation, healing, and nation-building.
With 12 official languages, South Africa is a linguistic treasure trove. During an exchange, you can pick up foundational phrases in languages like isiXhosa, isiZulu, or Afrikaans. You will also notice how these languages often blend in daily conversations, reflecting the country's overlapping cultural heritage.
Food is a powerful unifier in South Africa. You can learn how to cook Cape Malay curries, bake traditional Xhosa breads, or participate in a braai (a traditional South African barbecue). These culinary experiences often come with rich storytelling about the heritage and historical origins of the dishes.
A cultural exchange allows you to explore the roots of South Africa's first peoples, such as the San and Khoi cultures. You can learn about ancient survival techniques, traditional medicinal plants, indigenous folklore, and the creation of ancient rock art.
Ultimately, a cultural exchange in South Africa teaches you how to embrace diversity, adapt to new environments, and connect with others on a profoundly human level.
Workawayers will become part of our family at the guesthouse and cook and eat together every evening .
There are also musical instruments such as piano and guitar for our workawayers to use and learn from . We as a family love music and enjoy socialising every evening with guests and workawayers .
