We are Sarah and Dominique, living in the middle of nowhere in a 1830 build farmhouse.
Dominique is building a therapy farm, while Sarah is teaching in a school for sustainable agriculture and taking care of the housekeeping, including the gardening and taking care of the animals: a cat and a dog, chicken, geese, 30 goats and a small flock of sheep, 7 horses... at the moment.
After 10 years of renovating our house, we decided we needed to move our household and animals to a bigger place, with more land and less buildings. We got what we asked for: 33 Ha of overgrown pastures and woodland, and a really old, and in very bad shape mill we started renovating 2 years ago.
We are looking for some help, of course, but we are also fond of the cultural exchange that hosting helpers provides. We fully integrate them in our daily life, means you can fully immerse ourself in the french "art de vivre".
Looking forward to hear from you,
Sarah and Dominique

Duties/various tasks, depending on the season: helping in the vegetable garden, taking care of the animals, preserving and canning fruits and vegetables, cleaning up the new farm, tearing down old fences, building new ones... sometimes helping with construction, and housekeeping!
We expect approximatly 25 hours work per week, Sunday is an off-day. Depending on how Sarah has to work (mostly in the mornings), you'll be on your own working on some tasks that have been explained to you the day before, or working along with her and/or Dominique.
We expect though that our helpers are commited to their work, and that they "see" what needs to be done.
Our place may not be the best choice for people dealing with another occupation while staying at our place (online paid work, studies...). We got the feeling that the exchange always suffers in a way or an other from this other "duty".
People with physical issues (asthma, heartproblems...) may please tell us in advance, so that we can schedule their stay in accordance to their physical capacities.
French, English, German
Our helpers are hosted in their own bedroom, which has one single and one double bed, and a wood-stove for the chillier nights.
The meals will be provided, mostly with vegetables from our garden and the rest of local producers. Sometimes, I will ask for help preparing them, and some for cleaning the table. You will be able to try the dozens of local cheese sorts. We also have a Wifi or CPL-Internet access inside the house.
We are non-smokers and only host non smokers too. Event if we don't usually eat that much meat, we are not vegetarians, and we would probably find it hard to cook for a vegetarian.
We are also sorry not to be able to accept dogs.
