Description
After 2 amazing years exploring Australia, we'll be hosting volunteers from February 2025 onwards. We are looking for English native speakers, to help our kids to maintain their English.

We are a german and brazilian family dividing our living between our permaculture farm and a cute town house in a small historical town called Vassouras.

At the moment we are looking for volunteers to help renovating our house in Vassouras RJ. It's a great house in the city centre, one block from the historical church and historical city centre. It's a safe small town 150km from Rio de Janeiro, easily accessible by public transport. The town has nice cultural events and nightlife, it's an university town, so people from all over Brazil come here to study.
It's a big house and you would have your own room. The house has a big garden and a backyard with old mango, guava and banana trees and a lot of wildlife, everyday we see small monkeys, tucanos and other typical brazilian animals. If you prefer you can also camp in the garden.
We love to travel and camp. We are passionate about Permaculture. We are climate activists, environmentalists and antifa. We love to cook delicious vegetarian and vegan food and would be very happy to learn new recipes from your country! You must taste our home made pizza and our vegan curries!

Help we need in the townhouse:
After changing the whole electric installation and installing solar, we are excited to finish building our dream kitchen. Kitchen for us is the heard of a house. At the moment we are looking for help to renovate the bathroom and finish to paint some rooms. The house needs a lot of paint tasks, also renovation of the antique wooden floor. In future it's also planned to build a garage/workshop space and a veggies garden with chicken house. We are very handy and experienced builders, but also very occupied with our kids and jobs, so we would appreciate some practical help. The work to be done depends on the talents and former experience of the volunteer(s). Please specify what are your practical talents and experience.
Our kids would love to host a musician!

There are some co-living basics :)
- please wash the plate you used (yes, unfortunatelly we need to say this...)
- please do not leave garbage behind, when you leave. A big part of trying to live sustainable and in harmony with nature is about lower our consumption and getting conscious of our waste. Plastic is not recycled in Brazil, so please think before you take a plastic bag in a shop.
- we have limited ressources, we need people who really are looking for an alternative lifestyle and want to come to help us. If you want to, you can bring some fresh fruits or whole grain food. We eat most of the time vegetarian food, like home made pizza, for example. We love curries. In case you enjoy cooking, it would be great to cook something delicious from your country for us. It is no problem, if you cannot cook, then we do it and you can learn it from us :)
- as we generate our electrical energy, please be conscious of your consumption. It is an interesting exercise to slow down, get offline and rethink about how many electrical energy you actually use every day without noticing it.
- At night in winter it can get cold (around 8 degrees Celsius).
- We have a cat and a dog.
- in case we go out to have some beers or dinner you are responsible for paying your consumption.
