I am a retired hotel/restaurant manager and former owner of a tour company. After retirement, I opted to remain in Phan Thiet, Vietnam rather than return to my previous home in San Francisco. I am a gay man who has never been married, but I 'adopted' a Vietnamese family twenty years ago and then built a home on a hectare of land in Phan Thiet, where eight of us currently live.
Prior to covid and after I retired as the General Manager of the Resort, I recruited workaway volunteers to help at our adjacent property. However, we permanently closed that resort in March 2020 when the pandemic caused the Vietnamese government to order a nation-wide lockdown. The property will eventually be turned into villas that will be sold, rather than rented as hotel rooms.
The country finally reopened to tourism at the end of 2021, so the owners asked me to help re-establish our volunteer program from workaway for the resort. All of the management and staff members in the resort now are Vietnamese, yet the majority of the guests are from Europe, Australia and North America. So, we felt that workaway volunteers could help the staff members with their language abilities and help them to bridge the divide between Vietnamese and foreign cultures.
We are looking for volunteers willing to stay a minimum of three months to help with IT, F&B, PR, housekeeping, gardening, plus English training for staff and Yoga, and Tai Chi classes for guests.

They would be staying at a beautiful beach resort surrounded by local Vietnamese and next to a very traditional Vietnamese community. They can learn from the local staff and the local people about Vietnamese culture and they can share aspects of their cultures with these people. At the same time, they can participate in many of the same activities that tourists come to Mui Ne, Phan Thiet to experience.
Volunteers to help the staff to communicate with English speaking guests throughout the resort, plus help with IT, public relations, yoga and tai chi instruction and possibly maintenance.
Accommodations within the resort and three meals per day.
There are a number of local attractions, such as the sand dunes, the fairy stream, the largest reclining Buddha in Southeast Asia atop a mountain, and historical and cultural sites, such as the 1,100 year old Cham Towers. Also, the resort itself offers a number of activities that they can participate in, such as kite surfing, (November to April), kayaking, SUP Boarding, beach volleyball, tennis, badminton and football on the beach.
