Description
Hello dear workawayer,
my name is Katharina and currently i am living at the Pacific coast in Choco, Colombia, working on my dream of creating a little retreat center between the jungle and the ocean, where I want to connect my passions for yoga, meditation and plant medicines with my knowledge about the human mind and create a space for people, to disconnect from the outer world and connect with them selves.
At the moment we have finished the first house which for now is used as an airbnb, we also have a yoga platform where yoga classes are held from time to time. In a couple of months we will start building the little cabins which will be used for the retreats.
My property is located in a little fisher village called El Valle, a 40 minutes drive from Bahia Solano.
It has the ocean in front of it and the jungle behind, the 9km beach is part of the Utria natural park and a lot of time you can have it all for yourself.
It is the perfect place if you search for a spot where you can be in peace surrounded by nature and wildlife.
You can take long walks on the beach, surf, meditate, do yoga, swim in rivers and waterfalls, visit natural hot springs, do horseback riding, go diving, explore the area hiking or by boat.
You can help releasing sea turtles, observe birds, frogs, bioluminescent mushrooms and animals in the jungle by day and by night. From the middle of may until October you can experience the majestic humpback whales, even from the balcony of the house where you gonna be staying.
And if you want to get among people you can go dancing with the friendly, outgoing locals in the village or hang out with backpackers at the bars and hostels at el Almejal beach.

You will be learning a lot about these unique area of Colombia.
I am living here since more then 3 years and very well connected with the locals as well as with all the tour guides.
I also own a boat that leaves for tours daily.
Apart from accommodations and 3 meals a day you can go on all the available tours for free, during your time off, getting to know the Utria natural park, the sea turtles, the whales (may to October), waterfalls, hot springs, hikes to waterfalls, jungle tours, animal observation etc.
You also have a free surf class during your stay and if you want to go surfing regularly you can also have a surf board for the time of your stay.
To move around you will have a bicycle.
I have also very good friends owning one of the hostels at el Almejal beach, so if you want to stay there before your days off, to party with the backpackers at the bar, the bump fires and in the village, I can arrange that too.
Aide
At the moment I have finished the first of the Cabañas that I want to use for the retreats. It was all build from scratch and with materials from the region. The concept is geometric forms, a lot of light and letting nature get inside the spaces. We have also a Yogadeck that is still not completed but hopefully very soon and within the next couple of months four little hats will be constructed.
At the moment I am searching for:
A creative, social person to help with the creation of social media content, with sense to the detail and a camera, who can help me with the activation of our Instagram page for the finished house. The idea is to work right away with the content, edit the material and create story’s, videos and reels for our Instagram feed.

Hébergement
You will be staying at the property in a little wooden Cabin, that has its own kitchen bathroom and common area.
You have a view to the Jungle and the Ocean.
It has a dorm with 2 bunk beds, so depending on how many other volunteers are there you will be sharing the cabin with them.
During the days (from 8 to 5) May a very warm hearted local lady will be using the kitchen to prepare the food for you guys. she will also do the cleaning of the cabin and the new house. Most of the time she will be outside in the garden, doing maintenance of the property. Saturdays (and sometimes during the week) she will be bringing her daughter Samai, who is a very special little girl with a beautiful soul.
You have to be aware that you will be staying surrounded by nature on a beach that is a 20 minutes walk over the beach from the village (or 10 minutes by bicycle), whenever possible I can also pick you up by motorbike.
There is wifi connection at the property.
during low season it can also happen that you will have the house for yourself, as it is remote you must be ok with staying there by yourself during the night.
Also to you have to really like nature and wildlife and be open minded, then you will be falling in love with the beauty and uniqueness of this place.
