    Description

We are a warm and welcoming family of three living in Kyoto, Japan, and we are looking for a workawayer to join our family and share daily life with us.

We hope our 6-year-old son can learn English and explore the world and different cultures through fun daily conversations and interactions.
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being with children and can be like a big sister to our son—caring for him with kindness and respect.

We also sincerely hope that you can relax, enjoy your time in Japan, and feel that this cultural exchange is rewarding and meaningful for both of us.

    -----Stay periods
We are looking for someone who is available during the following periods:
Starting around late March, for more than two months.
We also welcome applications for longer stays of three months or more starting at other times. Please feel free to contact us.
We welcome not only tourists, but also students who are planning to attend Japanese language schools.

    -----About our family
I have experienced a homestay abroad and would love to share stories and cultural experiences with you.
My husband enjoys video games and manga.
Our son loves vehicles and animals.

We are looking for a caring and reliable au pair who would feel comfortable becoming part of our family.
The person we hope to welcome is someone who genuinely loves children and treats them with kindness and respect.
Clear and confident communication in English (C1 level or above) is important for our daily life together.
We are looking for a woman aged 20 or older who does not smoke, and who values responsibility, independence, politeness, good organization, and being punctual.
If you enjoy a calm, respectful, and well-structured home environment, we believe you would feel happy with us.

    -----What we offer:
A private room in our home in Kyoto
Homemade Japanese meals, which we hope you will enjoy
(Please note that we are unable to accommodate special dietary restrictions.)

    -----Additional notes:
We are welcoming female applicants only.
We cannot accommodate couples or families.

During your homestay in Kyoto, you’ll have the chance to enjoy the beauty of every season:
Cherry blossoms in spring/Fireworks and festivals in summer/Colorful autumn leaves/Peaceful, snow-covered temples in winter

If you enjoy trying new foods, we’d love to introduce you to a variety of home-style Japanese meals, including seasonal snacks and treats. It’s a fun way to explore Japanese flavors!

We live in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood that’s still very convenient. You can take relaxing walks, go shopping, visit temples and World Heritage sites, or even enjoy outdoor activities a little farther away in the countryside.

You’ll also get to experience everyday life in a typical Japanese household — things you won’t find in guidebooks — from mealtime routines to family traditions and daily customs.

    -----About Helping

Taking care of our son and playing with him
Our 6-year-old son is energetic, curious, and full of life. He loves cars, trucks, riding his bike, pretend play, and chatting about what’s on his mind. He enjoys running, playing tag, and Nintendo games like Mario Kart, Pokémon, and Minecraft.
It would be wonderful if you could join him in play and have fun together!
We hope you can enjoy activities together with him, while helping him practice English in a fun, natural way.
It works even if your Japanese is a beginner. (Intermediate or higher is fine too!)

When you spend time with my son, I (the host mum) am usually at home as well.
There may be short periods when I step out, such as going to a nearby supermarket

    -----Helping with light household tasks
These usually take 30–60 minutes per day and include:
    Kitchen reset (cleaning and tidying)
    Vacuuming and mopping
Folding laundry and keeping shared spaces tidy
Other small tasks may arise occasionally, and we’d appreciate your help.

    -----About Daily Life
Please prepare your own meals. You are welcome to use pantry items such as cereal, bread, tuna, eggs, and milk. If you need other items or consume large amounts, we ask that you purchase them yourself.

Dinner will be provided by me (host mom) from Tuesday to Friday.
For personal care, please take care of your own space respectfully:
Keep your room tidy/Wash and put away your own dishes/Clean the shower drain after use
You are welcome to use the washing machine, vacuum cleaner, and other appliances freely.

Please make sure you have valid medical insurance during your stay in Japan.

    -----About Your Free Time
The rest of your time is yours to enjoy — explore Kyoto, relax at home, or read a book.
(There may be occasional schedule adjustments during long school holidays or unusual work hours.)
Our general curfew is midnight (24:00).

    -----When Contacting Us
When you send your first message, please include:
A short introduction about yourself/Why you are interested in Japan/Your childcare experience (ages, gender, frequency, duration, etc.)
