… read more never asked for too much! It was my first workaway experience with working with a young child, which challenged me, but still was a good experience. So I would recommend to come with some more experience than I had. We hosted Carla for 3 weeks and it's been a wonderful time. Carla is friendly and does everything without complaining. The best was however her flexibility to cater to what Ramon needed. We had some nice conversations over our adventcalendar teas 😊.
I would definitely recommend Carla as a workawayer!

It was our pleasure to host Bowen. He didn't come at the easiest time as there was a lot going on in our personal lives. But Bowen really helped out and adapted to the circumstances. He was very good with Ramon and Ramon enjoyed his company a lot.

I spent November with Natalie and Ramon on Terschelling and it was a great experience. Natalie was super accommodating and gave clear directions for what needed to be done. She also gave great tips for things to do on the island and included me whenever they went out to do anything.
The work was mainly playing with Ramon and biking with him to
… read more his activities, some shopping, and cooking dinner every night. The house is in a perfect location. You can walk to and from the ferry, there is a dune right behind the house you can climb to see the sunsets, and using a bike you can be anywhere you need in town in 5 minutes. The room was simple and detached from the main living area by a courtyard so you have some privacy.
Terschelling is a beautiful place to experience Dutch culture and explore the vast network of trails and dunes. Natalie was helpful in learning Dutch though every adult I talked with on the island also spoke English. I had a great time with Ramon, too. We played lots of lego, trains, boats, blocks, and more. At times he can be very strong-willed and needs extra patience. That being said, he is a creative, affectionate boy and you’ll quickly become his best friend if you play with him on his level.

I was fortunate to be on Terschelling during the time of big christmas celebrations and I was included in the traditions not only by Natalie and Ramon but also by their lovely family. Other than that we went to the christmas market together and went on a boat ride.
I had a lot of free time and was able to explore the beautiful island of Terschelling. The landscape is super fascinating and trails, dunes, the forest and the sea are not far from the house.

Anne has been with us for 4 weeks and it's been a great time! She has been a big help for me and Ramon. Anne and Ramon did a lot of nice things together: go on walks to find and harvest cranberries, make cranberry jam, doing "bereloop" runs and cheer me on when I was doing a run. I stayed four weeks with Natalie and Ramon and I enjoyed every day of it. I had a lot of time to explore the island and to go on long hikes in the dunes, the forest and on the beach. Natalie helped me with information on where the best trails are. We had many good conversations and she also helped me to learn Dutch.
