Description
We are a couple in our sixties and live in a small town in northern Norway in the area of Vesteraalen. From there it's easy to travel to the rest of the Vesterålen and Lofoten Islands. There are good possibilities for mountain hiking in the area.

We could tell you about the area, how people live and used to live her. And also give you advice on possible trips and adventures in the area. In between you could come with us to a small island were we have a small farm and a couple of sheep.

Aide
The house needs some paint on the outside and the terrace needs pressure washing and some oil.
We are going to move from the house during the summer and need help moving some furniture, carrying boxes, getting stuff to the recycling and some cleaning.
If anybody has the skills, the area outside the entrance needs to be paved, we have the stones and can provide tools. Otherwise a little help gardening might be needed.

Autres infos...
There are lots of hiking and climbing opportunities in the area. It's easy to travel by bus to Andenes or Stø where you can go for a whale safari, or take the coastal steamer to Lofoten and see the famous Trollfjord on the way. In the town there is a museum about the coastal steamer, a cinema showing movies in original languages and a cozy pub. In general there are good bus connections to Lofoten, Vesterålen, Harstad and Narvik, or you can travel with the coastal steamer to Tromsø or Bodø.
The nearest airport is Stokmarknes(SKN) here we could pick you up, but flights there are usually a bit more expensive than to Harstad/Narvik(EVE). From Evenes you have to take a two hours bus ride to Sortland and then switch buses and a new 30 minutes ride. If you do not want to fly we can inform you about alternative travel options (train, bus or ferry), depending on where you come from.

You were really great help, hard working, fastidious, responsible, able to work on your own, and working way more than expected. We had great help painting, cleaning after guests and helping with hay making. The host that gets your help is really lucky!

We had a wonderful time there help to renovate the house (painting house from outside).
It was special for me to stay with you and Gunar on the Island.
We could learn how to make hay on the old way.
Thanks a lot hopefully we meet each other again.
