Description
Hi!
My name is Sienna, I'm 23 and I recently graduated from university. I've been travelling/living in different countries for the past 6 years, and I've landed back at my home in Sisteron, France. I'm currently teaching French online, but I'm hoping for a primary-school teacher role this year.
I live in a rural regional in south-east France, between Provence and the Alps. It's a beautiful place for walking as we are surrounded by mountains.
Here, people are really mindful about their food and where it comes from, so its really easy to eat well. We have fresh goats cheese, honey, and olive oil all year round. We have a market on Saturday, even when it's raining!
In summer, the medieval village doubles its population with tourists, mostly for Europe. We have a natural swimming pool down by the river, three ice cream places, and some bookstores. Live music plays multiple times a week, and the center feels lively all day.
In winter, the house is a beautiful, cosy haven. It's 400 years old and is built across four small stories. W have a view of the village and the surrounding mountains as we are in the highest street, closest to the Citadell.
I'm French-Australian, and I moved to France when I was 16. I completed high school here, continued university online, and have never wanted to go back. I have a deep connection with this place, even though I haven't lived most of my life here. It brings me calm and reassurance, and family. I like to walk in the mountains, picking flowers to press in spring, getting out early in summer, leaving before 4pm in winter.

The town is small, especially throughout winter and autumn.
This place is beautiful, just walking the streets, walking the mountains or nature spaces surrounding it, is something I do almost every day.
It might be a better stop-over on your way to somewhere else, as there isn't too much to do without going to a bigger city, and I don't have a strong community network to introduce you to. It is very close to cities like Gap (45 minute drive), or Aix (1h15 minutes), and is 2h away from Marseille by train.
I speak French and Spanish, and I like to share those languages with people. I have experience travelling, as a workawayer too, and I would love to share stories, tips, and questions with other travellers. I'm hoping to meet knew people, give travellers an easy, warm place to stay for a couple of days, and to learn why and how other people travel.

I'm looking for a couple of hours of language lessons (French, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic) a day, as well as some help with organising spaces around the house. It's an old house that we used to use just in summer, and I'd like to do a couple of things to make it more comfortable. I'm not very handy, but simple things like organising a proper pantry space, a place to hang clothes at the entrance, would be nice. I'd also like some help cooking, as I'm not very good at it and would like to feel more confident for when I go start travelling again.
All the tasks would be done together.
I love to learn about almost everything, so I am open to any skills being shared.

Hébergement
I provide a private bedroom with a bed, desk, clothes storage, and mini-balcony. I can organise a private bathroom set-up if preferred.
I am vegan/vegetarian, so I don't eat meat. I don't mind having animal products in the house if they are cooked discreetly :).
Food here can be expensive, for the moment I prefer to share grocery costs. We can talk about meal time and food arrangements beforehand, I am flexible as to how independent/collaborative we make them. You can also be responsible for your own food expenses. I only ask for a couple of hours of help a day (3 max), so I hope this makes sense.
Autres infos...
For the moment, as I'm just tarting out as a host, I prefer shorter stays :)
We have no wifi as the house is old and the wifi struggles though the walls. I have a 5G data plan as I work from home teaching French online, and I don't mind sharing a hotspot with you. There is a coffee shop that also has wifi.

There is no wifi at home, I use a 120 5G data plan that costs me less. The connection isn't always the best, especially in overcast weather. I find it can impact my online video classes a little but it should be fine for everything else. I work online from home and I have had a couple of issues, but overall it's ok.
