  Description

  Our family comes from Canada, but we've made our home in sunny El Zonte, a picturesque beach town nestled in the heart of El Salvador - where the surf is always up.
  
  Our son, who is 15 years old, has been educated at home throughout his life. His learning journey is a combination of community-based education, project-based learning, skillsets, and homeschooling initiatives.
  
  He is currently finishing grade 10, moving on to grade 11 in September 2024 and we are looking for support in various areas.
  
  We offer various options as far as trade; either live in, live near, or just drop in for a single subject and we will work together to find an equitable way to support one another.
  
  LANGUAGE ARTS
  - We seek a native English speaker to tutor grade 10-11 level mixed Language Arts with a pre-purchased program, requiring little to no class preparation.
  
  BUILD SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
  We also aspire to support our primary areas of study with diverse project-based learning (PBL) opportunities that can engage our active teen while building his skillset to meet the world better. We also support any types of certifications you would offer along the way.
  
  If you're passionate about a specific topic and are interested in teaching it for a period of 1 to 3 months, feel free to get in touch with us. We favor a projet-base-learning style, meaning that we work together to build a course outline from start to finish that has a clear result in mind.
  We favor hands-on projects and topics such as:
  
  - Wilderness First Aid
  - Ocean navigation: current, storm reading, and ocean mapping / Weather predictability (surf-related even better!)
  - Geography / History
  - Marketing: setting up an Instagram account to promote Sacha's skills
  - Lightweight graphic design for personal use
  - Engineering
  - Website creation
  - Marine Science
  - Car mechanics
  - Computer skills: coding, basic design skills, excel, etc.
  - Electricity, welding, building, locksmith, etc.
  - Chemistry / Biology
  - Health: the human body, psychology, pathology, biology, etc.
  - Cooking, diet, menus, etc.
  - Training & Fitness
  
  Our learning studio, located apart from our main house, provides a secluded and intimate classroom experience. We are open to some flexibility regarding the timings, days, and schedules, though we encourage a minimum commitment of three months to English and Math, and between four weeks to two months to other subjects.

  Located in Playa El Zonte, a delightful surfing beach community, our residence offers a safe, diverse and international experience. El Salvador, a small yet diverse country, boasts of its volcanoes, lakes, mountains, beaches, and coffee farms. Getting around this beautiful country is a breeze, making it easy to explore all its wonders in no time. Our town is a melting pot of vibrant travellers, which makes it common to see people teaming up to discover its splendour.

  Our establishment includes a small animal refuge, housing a variety of species. We appreciate individuals who possess skills in habitat building, veterinary care, vaccinations, gardening, and related areas. If you have such skills, we welcome you to join our program.

  We offer on-site accommodation for one room or provide coverage for off-site accommodations. The amount given for the room will be based on the number of weekly work hours.

  Note that you will receive a 180-day visa upon your entry into the country.
  Passports must be valid for 6-months from the date of entry.
  
  Our house has a very good wifi and we have many fun pets to interact with; a turkey, chickens, a Boa, a dog, a cat, a few parrots, ducks, turtles and who knows what else by the time you get here!
