  Description

  Experience Tuscan countryside life in an international environment and diffuse community in an unspoiled valley
  
  Our home is located on Mount Amiata, an inactive volcano situated in the south of Tuscany between the provinces of Siena and Grosseto.
  The house was built from an old “seccatoio”, a typical small building built with volcanic rocks and in which farmers would dry the chestnuts. The rest of the house is made of wood with big windows showing the abundant nature around.
  The property includes 3 hectares and it is in a very particular position where chestnuts meet olive trees and there is a wide range of fruits trees as well.
  Mount Amiata is a 2.000 meters high inactive vulcano surrounded by enchanting villages, natural springs, lush forests and streams where you can swim.
  Our family is composed by Roberto and Valentina and our two sons Rémi (5 y.o.) and Lucio (1 y.o.).
  The help we ask is meanly baby sitting and with the outdoor activities (fruits and garden).
  
  Valentina is a social worker committed to sustainability, permaculture and motherhood. She founded “Paradiso Ritrovato” () which is an association promoting trainings and educational materials on the themes of authentic vocation and orientation, permaculture and motherhood. She works mainly from home and travels to trainings and international meetings, some times with all the family.
  Roberto is a wine export hero. He bridges Italian wine to international markets worldwide. He’s a musician and enthusiastic person. He works mainly from home and travels a couple of times per month.
  Roberto and Valentina have a vast volunteer experience as Workaway and are experienced in holding the space for groups. They hosted several volunteers from France, Italy, South Korea, Switzerland.
  
  Roberto and Valentina are fluent in Italian, English, French and Spanish.
  
  The valley is inhabited by people from all over the world, from Italy to the UK, from Russia to East Europe, from Japan to Israel and many other corners of the world, making it a colorful and vibrant environment, still in a very calm and relaxing nature.
  
  SPRING is a rich and generous time of the year here. Nature blossoms and there are several works to be done to prepare the harvest of chestnuts and to maintain the garden. The first fruits as cherries and sour cherry will be ready to pick and to be transformed in jams.
  There is always the possibility to go to the natural hot springs which are 20 to 40 minutes by car from here.
  
  SUMMER can be warm but behind the house there is a wonderful oak and chestnuts forest spotted by big volcanic stones and orientated north which is always cool.
  Fruit picking and jams are the main tasks, as cleaning the chestnut forest at the end of the summer to get ready for the harvest. There some garden maintenance as well.
  According to how much time we’ve got, we could clean some spots from the brambles. Especially the olive trees need to be cleaned as they were left for some years.
  The streams are at 5 to 20 minutes walking and are blessed by fresh water where you can dip or swim. Thermal baths are quite hardcore during the summer, best in the early morning or night as the putì side temperature is cooler. The seaside is 1 hour from home with beautiful spots as Punta Talamone or Argentario.
  
  AUTOMN is the moment of olives and chestnuts. The chestnuts picking takes place in a 2/3 weeks time frame. We will probably pick some olives depending on how many trees we cleaned from the brambles.
  There is some wood preparation for the winter.
  Thermal baths are amazing in this period.
  
  The stay will be in a mobile home or in a big tent with a proper bed. Of course you can always use one of the bathroom inside and the kitchen and living room. We have two cars and can give the possibility to use one on agreed time slots.
  
  There are no costs, except the trip to get here and back home. If you are interested send a motivation letter by email. We expect to read your motivations to join us along with your past experiences. We could ask you for an online meeting before confirming the availability.
  We prefer to host couples but we can evaluate singles as well.
  We eat everything but we accept vegetarians and vegans, as long if it’s ok for them that we eat diary and meat sometimes. Pets welcome. There is space to park camping cars.

  We are looking for someone for min 2 max 4 weeks. We provide room and board. A weekly allowance, only if you help more than 5 hours a day, only if required by our needs. The tasks are: Baby sitting, cook, green care, cutting wood, general maintenance, garden care, other. Experience is required in the countryside and manual abilities. Basic knowledge of Italian preferable but not necessary. Driving license not required but helps. Start as soon as possible.
  Smoking only outside the house and not while baby sitting, please.
