Thank you for visiting our profile. We are welcoming and friendly family. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
We ask for your understanding that we are very busy and might not be able to reply for a few days. We thank you for your patience!
If we don't reply, it could be that we might be booked for the time you are requesting or are waiting back for confirmation from another visitor who had already contacted us regarding the same time of your request.
We can accomodate 1 or a couple in a caravan with a double size bed.
We live on a small farm with sheep, chickens, cat, and a dog. Must be ok around animals!
Kristi has worked in education so is qualified to help you with your English, if that is something you would like. Doug has international ski and snowboard instructing experience, so he would be happy to give you skiing and snowboard lessons.
We are non-smoking, alcohol-free, vape-free, drug-free. Not a party house : )Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Kayaking:
We have several kayaks for you to use (free). We can help with transport to several local lakes for kayaking.
Biking:
We have bikes for you to use. You can bike to a cute town with cafes, shops, etc. from here.

Recent workawayers have really enjoyed hiking the trails - there are mountain hikes - and also easier trails, including a cave hike.
Glacier:
Visit a glacier and see the moraine, plus the clear turquoise water.
Glacial Lakes and Swimming:
Stunning lakes nearby - some of the most photographed lakes in New Zealand. Lake Tekapo, Lake Pukaki, Lake Opuha, and the Ashburton Lakes.
Swimming:
Several local swimming spots, plus as mentioned above, you can take a swim in the blue / turquoise water of the beautiful glacial waters - so unique!
Skiing and Snowboarding:
Several ski resorts nearby - Roundhill in Tekapo and Mt. Dobson.
Mount Cook:
Mount Cook is an easy drive from here of approximately 50 minutes to the amazing Lake Pukaki to see Mt. Cook and then 30 more minutes to the scenic Mt. Cook Village.
Ocean Beaches:
The beautiful Caroline Bay beach (rated one of the best in NZ) is nearby in Timaru. You can also see the world's smallest penguin in the wild at this beach.

If you are looking for employment, we can connect you with a local cafe who often hires staff for 6 week terms.
* We are also looking for the right person to stay on for longer term (2 - 4 months). Please write to learn more if interested. We are willing to negotiate the number of hours/days and pay for additional hours and/or help you find paid employment nearby.Projets impliquant des enfants

Helping hours can be flexible and we're happy to schedule around your interests.
Requesting 18-20 hours per week, can be scheduled for 3 days of 6 hours per day, then 4 days off!
Or 4 days of 5 hours, then 3 days off.
So either way, still lots of time for you to explore the area.
If this sounds ok, we would like for you to help in areas of your interest/abilities. We do need mostly help with outdoor tasks of gardening, landscaping, some DIY building type projects, animal care, and light housecleaning.
We will provide you with all gear needed for helping here - boots, overalls to protect your clothing, safety glasses, gloves, and any gardening tools needed for the tasks.
We recommend having your own vehicle if possible.
So please consider visiting if you are willing to pitch in and help : )Langues parlées

Hébergement
You would have your own private space in a recently refurbished caravan with your own shower and toilet.
This area is in a separate paddock and thus total privacy at the base of a mountain! Native trees and birds abound.
Your own private composting toilet and your own shower. It is not luxurious. More like camping. This is separate from our house, it is in your own area.
The caravan where you will have accommodation is pet-free. Non-smoking.
Food:
We are happy to buy you food that you like and allow you to choose your own food for your breakfasts and lunches (and dinners if you prefer). The caravan has cooking facilities.
Kristi is happy to make dinner for you.
We do eat meat, but if you are a vegetarian we are happy to be respectful and accommodating as much as possible.
You're welcome to pack food from here if going on a hike or a day out.
Respectful atmosphere:
We are really happy to open up our farm and hospitality to you! We are a helpful and accommodating family.
We feel to work best for both you and us it is a good idea to have a one or two day trial. If we are cool with the arrangement we will invite you to stay longer. And vice-versa, if you prefer to continue on with your travels we are understanding as well.
Hopefully by reading this profile it is clear if we would be a good match for your stay. If you aren't sure, please feel free to ask any questions or set up a call on Skype or Whatsapp.Autres infos...
Transportation:
It is best if you have your own vehicle because we are not within walking distance of town.
BUS: There is a bus stop nearby (about a 5 minute drive). This is a good option for travelling here from farther away.
There is no public transport within the town, so as mentioned - having your own vehicle would be a plus, but not absolutely necessary.
We might be able to loan you a vehicle, depending on terms of our insurance. We are happy to transport you to nearby places. It is best if you have your own vehicle though.

Possibilité d’accueillir les digital nomads
We have starlink wifi, but only at the house (and only when we have power). No wifi/internet at the caravan. There is good mobile range here though, so if you have your own data on your phone/device then that might be good enough (depending how much internet you need). If you need hours of internet a day then this would not be a good fit as ours is sometimes limited because of power/solar.
Espace pour garer des vans
Plenty of space for parking an RV/Caravan. You will have use of a toilet (composting) and shower. Also laundry facility. We have an ideal spot for parking, flat and easy access to facilities and lots of outdoor space.
