Description
Hi
We’re David (33) and Patrick (44) two friends who met at a plant medicine ceremony in Scotland five years ago and have stayed close friends ever since. We share a vision of creating a meaningful life project together here in central Portugal.
We are restoring and regenerating 5 hectares of beautiful land near Aldeia de Santa Margarida in the Castelo Branco region. Our place is surrounded by nature, old stone landscapes, big skies and a growing international community living alongside the traditions of the Portuguese countryside.
This is more than a simple farm stay. It is a friendship led project built around community, nature and purpose. We are creating a space centred around health, connection, creativity and learning. Think gardens, food forests, natural building, land regeneration, off grid systems, cooking, movement, good conversations and shared meals under the stars.
There is always something real to get involved with here. Planting trees, improving the land, creating structures, caring for animals, harvesting food, making spaces beautiful and helping shape a living project from the ground up.
We are especially looking for reliable, self motivated people who enjoy meaningful work, can take initiative and want to be part of building something long term. If you are practical, consistent and happy to contribute with heart and energy, you will fit in well here.
You do not need to know everything, just come willing to learn, help and take part.
If you are looking for more than just somewhere to stay, and want to experience community, nature and meaningful hands on living, we would love to hear from you.

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
This space offers an opportunity to engage with a diverse and active international community, with events taking place throughout the region. The area is also still closely connected to rural Portuguese traditions, so there may be chances to experience seasonal celebrations, harvests, and local customs during your stay.
Our home is shaped by a deep interest in medicinal plants, plant extractions, preservation methods, mycology, supported fasting, and dieta practices. We enjoy exploring these subjects with care and openness, and there is always something to discover among the many books and instruments in the space.
We value thoughtful exchange, good food, and a calm, grounded atmosphere where ideas can grow naturally. For those with an open mind and an interest in the subtle ways plants, traditions, and wellbeing connect, there is plenty here to explore.
Aide
The help is practical and varied depending on the season, including gardening, land care, DIY projects, and general help around the place.
We usually ask for 3 to 5 hours per day, 4 days a week, with a relaxed and respectful rhythm.
This land is being shaped as a place for deep connection with nature, plants, food, and intentional ways of living.
Skills we appreciate include gardening, permaculture, DIY experience, cooking, herbal or plant knowledge, and general practical problem solving. A valid driver’s license is helpful, though not essential. Attitude, self motivation, and respect for the space matter most.

English is spoken as primary. We are dedicated in learning Portuguese and Spanish though at present our level is fairly basic, so as long as tasks can be communicated in English we are more than happy for language exchange
Hébergement
In exchange for your help, we offer simple accommodation in a private mini yurt, fast and reliable WiFi, shared meals made with high quality organic food - able to cater to a variety of food plans in a cosy communal space for eating, resting, and connecting. The setting is quiet and rural, best suited to people who enjoy meaningful work and contributing to something long term rather than a retreat or party environment.

Autres infos...
The area has lakes, small markets, and old villages, with a good local community.
We go to the lakes quite a bit to swim or paddle board. There are also local groups for hiking, climbing, and poetry if people want to join in.
On the land there is plenty of space to have some time to yourself.
We have a well equipped movement setup that we use regularly, including Indian clubs and a sumtola.
From time to time we will have a film or documentary night, light a fire outside, or do a BBQ with friends and neighbours.
The rhythm here is steady, a mix of work, good food, and time to rest.
