    Description

Hello, my name is Jean, I am French and have lived in Colombia for a little over 13 years. I fell in love with the surrounding mountains of Bogota and decided to settle there. For about 10 years I have been passionate about organic farming and more particularly "biointensive" methods. I set up a garden where I grow all kinds of vegetables and mushrooms. We are a small team and we are trying more and more to operate in a closed circuit, to produce our own fertilizers, seeds and other inputs. The adventure is exciting and I want to be able to share my experiences, my knowledge and my techniques with as many people as possible. I live with my 9 year old daughter, we have 3 cats and would like to acquire a few additional small animals in the near future such as a small goat, a few rabbits and a “mini pig”. We are working more and more with schools and other educational structures in order to implement awareness-raising actions on agriculture and the environment in general, but also on cooking, sharing and living together. .
We live in a little paradise, barely 1 hour from the big capital, in the middle of nature and the mountains and want to allow city dwellers to come and recharge their batteries, learn and exchange in this incredible environment.

I am an engineer, teacher and musician. We have a lot of musical instruments here and like to share moments around this passion. I also love cooking and sharing the preparation of meals, kitchen tips, making my own bread or even homemade pizzas. The farm is located in the countryside and it is possible to go for walks; by bike or on horseback in the surrounding mountains. If you also want to enjoy the city on the weekend, you can be there in an hour thanks to the bus connecting the village to Bogota.

The activities are very diverse on the farm and that's what I liked about organic farming. During the week, for example, we can prepare different types of compost, prepare the soil, transplant or sow new plants, weed, prepare solutions to treat different symptoms of disease or to protect our plants from certain harmful insects or fungi, tutor, prune, but also harvest, wash, package our products, take care of the cleanliness of the henhouse and the health of the hens, prepare the substrate in which we sow the mushrooms, or even participate in group welcome activities school or family on the farm.

Cet hôte propose un échange linguistique
I speak French, Spanish and English. The people who work on the farm speak Spanish. The linguistic and cultural interest will therefore be to share moments of life together and discover our differences, our customs, our habits.

  • Hébergement

    Hébergement

Last year we built a chalet next to the main house to accommodate visitors and volunteers. It's a super comfortable and very cute chalet, with two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen area. It will therefore be possible for volunteers to be able to prepare their meals there, both with farm products and with other complementary products. Food will be offered to volunteers, as will the necessary hot water, gas and electricity. It is essential for us that your stay on the farm is not only a learning moment but also and above all a human and pleasant experience which you will keep as memories throughout your life.
