Description
We are a couple living along the Wild Atlantic Way in a beautiful scenic part of North County Sligo, Ireland, at the foot of the majestic Benbulben mountain. Our house is just a ten-minute drive from several beaches that are sought after for swimming, surfing, sailing, and horse riding. We have lots of space in our thatched cottage, which is attached to our home, as our children have now moved out.
We live on a small farm with a flock of sheep, and we have a vegetable garden. There are plenty of learning opportunities as I spin, dye and knit with the wool from our sheep. I enjoy foraging for wild plants and making jams from the berries we pick. I am coeliac and cook coeliac-friendly and wholesome meals. We have an interest in art and nature.
This is not a business; we just provide for ourselves and need some help as spring is quite a busy time on the farm, with sheep lambing, gardening, and various other projects. We would love to host a person who is interested in living in the countryside by the sea and the mountains and would like to help us care for the sheep and help with our vegetable garden .Enda is Irish; I am Dutch, and I also speak German reasonably well. Enda likes to listen to music, and I like to draw and paint. Our house is a ten-minute walk from the bus where you can get a bus to Sligo town, Galway and Donegal. Sligo town is well connected to Dublin by train and bus.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Workawayers will have an opportunity to take part in leisure activities like sea swimming or hiking. We have a bicycle for the guest to use if they are interested in exploring the area by bike. Furthermore there is lots of learning in living in a thatched cottage, sheep management, gardening, and learning about spinning wool and dyeing with natural materials. I process some of the sheep fleeces to spin yarn, dye and knit, a craft that a number of workawayers did learn and experience during their stay with us. It was very satisfying to see some guests leave with their own spun wool or garments from.our farm. We live ten minutes walk from the bus stop which takes you to Sligo town where there are intercity train and bus routes to the rest of the country. Sligo is a great area for music and the arts, there are galleries , music venues and theatres in the surrounding towns. We like to visit the theatre and film society occasionally, and workawayers are very welcome to join us.
Sligo is rich in archeology and we would like to visit some of the sites with the workawayer if they like.
Furthermore I have a passion for art, I like to draw and paint and have introduced workawayers to some of the art classes I take part in.
If you have an interest in learning Dutch, Irish or English we are happy to help.Aide
We are looking for somebody to help with our small vegetable garden , weeding , planting and harvesting.
We are not a business; the garden is only for our own use. We also would like some help caring for our small flock of sheep, like checking and counting them, and helping with lambing in early spring and general care. The sheep are just for our pleasure and to keep the fields tidy.
We would appreciate it if the workawayer used their initiative and were open to other tasks such as cooking , tidying and anything else that may come up.Langues

The thatched cottage has a bedroom and living room available for the guest. The kitchen and bathroom is to be shared with ourselves. There is an additional small bathroom in an outside building . We like to include the workawayer with our meals and they are welcome to use the kitchen any time.
We have lots of space surrounding the house and sheds for a camper van or caravan if the workawayer does have their own accommodation or transport.Autres infos...
Sligo is rich in history and there is a lot of archeology. Sligo is known for its traditional Irish music and there are plenty of sessions in local venues where music is played. There are several art galleries in Sligo town and a theatre with a varied programme. There are a number of beaches close by, good for surfing , swimming and walking. The Dartry mountain range is on our footstep, well known for its fabulous scenery. There is a bus stop ten minutes walk from the house, to Sligo town or to Donegal. We travel regularly to Sligo in our car and are always happy to give a lift and explore local sights also. We are generally busy during the day with various tasks, in a relaxed way. We would like if you could feel at home and work with us for a few hours,. At nighttime we spend time reading, spinning, chatting and maybe go for a walk.
