  • Description

Hello! Our farm is a 500 acre property in the Hunter Valley, Australia. The focus here is to see to the welfare of our animals (cow protection) whilst establishing sustainable organic farming practices (we have few organic gardens). We have 9 dedicated lovely residents helping to maintain the farm and you can be the next one!

The farm is based on teachings of an ancient Indian philosophy- bhakti yoga. The centre of the farm is a beautiful temple that brings many visitors. Part of our philosophy is to offer free vegetarian lunches to anyone who comes to visit us. There are also lot of fun festivals through out the year that we host. We practice love and non-violent behaviour towards any living entity here.

Our project is looking for new positive additions to help the growth of our little community. The farm is in Millfield, (1hr west from Newcastle). Our property offers shelter to various animals with the focus being on cow protection. We have an organic garden as well as opportunities to join our building team or to learn from our kitchen staff. Amongst learning new material skill sets and contributing to the community. There is a temple based on the ancient Vedic practices of Bhakti yoga. Living here will provide opportunities to develop your spiritual knowledge and practices, but also develop practical skills.

This farm is an amazing place where you can search for your own spirituality (we would prefer that our future volunteer would be interested in this area). It is a great place for a solo volunteer, but also a couple or group of friends. At the farm, there is always a place where you can spend some time by yourself, but there are also opportunities to socialize. We have people with different life stories and backgrounds living here and we try to accept and appreciate the uniqueness and individuality of each of them. Oursecret formula is LOVE. So, come and spread, and share love with us 🙂 .

There are few things that we consider quite unique about our farm:
    - Love that we put into everything that we do here
    - Cow protection program (seeing mother cow as very precious)
    - Teachings about ancient Indian philosophy (Bhakti yoga) and applying into our daily lives on the farm (we have a temple and hold daily programs- they are not mandatory :) )
    - Workshops and common activities with volunteers: workshop about meditation, ancient Indian teachings; feeding cows together and meditating; sharing circles; kirtans (singing meditation accompanied by instruments)
    - Living in a pure and loving relationship with all living entities
    - Organic farming
    - Montly festivals

We offer and share all this with you. You are more than welcome to participate in our temple program, attend classes if you are curious and might have some questions about spirituality :).

  • Aide

We would very much appreciate help in the following areas:
(of course you would not be doing everything :). We would assign you certain activities based on your interest and skills and also what is really needed.)

    - animal welfare (feeding the animals: cows, peacocks, goats; herding the cows)
    - general maintenance (fixing a light bulb, painting, organizing the things on the farm and etc.)
    - building (our current projects: finishing a wall, building a new fridge room)
    - kitchen (chopping veggies, clean up)
    - cleaning (pathways, temple, dining hall, windows, doors, lawning and etc.)
    - organic gardening (weeding, seeding, picking, watering, maintaining the crops and etc.)
    - guest care (serving food, providing information, gift shop)
    - and many other activities that come up :)

    Our future volunteer:

-Interested in spirituality, philosophy, meditation, and self-growth
    -Interested in farm life
    -Do 5 hours/ 5 days of service
-Stay for minimum of 4 weeks (initial testing period is one week after which we would give you a feedback and let you know whether you can stay on or not)

Why 4 weeks? :) We found out that two weeks or less does not allow you to fully experience the life here. Our farm has a huge spiritual aspect to it, so it takes a while to find your rhythm and also staying here longer gives you the opportunity to work on different projects. Moreover, we are a small team and we find it a bit hard to train new people all the time. We would love to have a good solid team for a month at least, so you can also develop closer relationships with the residents and also the other volunteers. just creating deeper, compassionate and loving connections :) Aaand also... Working on your spirituality takes a while to get into :)

What do we offer in exchange for your help:

Delicious Indian (mainly) vegetarian based food
Accommodation- a furnished shared room (female) and furnished tents (male). If a couple (stay in a tent). You are also more than welcome to live in your van or in your own tent
Teachings about the ancient Indian philosophy of bhakti yoga
Temple visit (program all day long- singing, dancing, chanting meditations on beads)*
Meet our beautiful 50 cows, 13 peacocks and 2 goats
Teach skillset within the kitchen, building projects, animal care, general maintenance, organic farming, guest care.

Workshops and common activities: workshop about meditation, ancient Indian teachings; feeding cows together and meditating; sharing circles; kirtans (singing meditation accompanied by instruments)
