    Description

Hi my name is Tanya, myself and my daughter own and maintain rental properties in the Bonnyville area, this is our main source of income. We also have a farm with 160 acres of pasture and forest. We enjoy having visitors from all over the world and have hosted travelers from different organizations for over 10 years. Learning from others and meeting new people is our passion, we often gather around the fire and tell stories and jokes. Guests are treated like family, with open arms (we are hugers) and often become lifelong friends, we provide all meals, accommodation, and good company. Our veggie garden is large and requires tender care. We have a variety of animals, like sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, chickens, bison, dogs, and cats. Everyday offers new challenges on the farm.

We offer a diverse farm experience. Our property is a family homestead that was cleared and worked up by hand in the 1920's. This land has provided for our family for 3 generations, we are Canadian but our heritage is Polish/ Ukrainian. Some cultural things we enjoy doing usually involves food, we make our own sour cabbage to make cabbage rolls with rice, bacon and onion filling. For summer fun we enjoy swimming, canoeing,& floating in the lakes and rivers that are nearby, we have campfires, barbecues, pick berries, mushrooms, and wild herbs that grow in our region. With the berries picked (Blueberries, Raspberries,&Saskatoon's) we make jams and other preserves. Veggies from the garden are pickled or frozen. The northern lights can appear on any night, bring your cameras. Winter activities in our area include ice fishing, tobogganing down snow covered hills, skiing, snowshoeing, cutting firewood, warming yourself up by the fire place with a drink of hot chocolate, coffee or tea that was picked in the summer. Wildlife is abundant, we hear wolves and coyotes in the evening, and sometimes see black bears, moose, deer and much more. Are you interested in Native American culture? We often attend sweats (monthly saunas), this is a powerful and healing spiritual experience.

We work hard on the farm, as well as, keeping our rental properties in top shape. Most days we need help feeding all the animals and herding sheep and goats to fresh pasture. We have a lot of grass to cut, trees to trim, weeds to pull, veggies to harvest, eggs to collect, pens to clean, and snow to shovel in the winter. All our helpers are included in every job,be versatile, one day we are taking care of housekeeping the next we are putting up fences or building decks. It helps if you like to try new things or maybe you have skills with power tools and construction, this would be an asset as we work on many renovation projects. We accept helpers with all skill levels and expect everyone to help with cooking and cleaning. You will be treated like part of the family, everyone pitches in when work needs to be completed.
