Description
In just 2500 m2, we live in a transformation towards a sustainable, friendly and productive space. As an Agroecological school, we want our visitors to have the opportunity to choose and explore among a wide variety of activities in the Colombian productive countryside, which normally require outdoor physical activity.

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
We deeply believe on the idea that learning normally comes from doing. We expect volunteers to see this place as an experience of creation and experimentation, and a place where healthy active life common. There is always something to do around and we could benefit from goal oriented people.

Aide
We normally require a 3 hour help per day in exchange of shelter and organic ( fruit and vegetables ) food. You can take the days off you want ( normally two in a week) to explore around and/or do nothing. But as long as you decide to stay and consume food from the farm, we would require some help from you that day ( or maybe another, no worries).
The activities we do around depend on the weather and the need for the moment. Most of common activities are:
Painting
Garden maintenance
Moving stuff
Coffee picking (in season )
Cooking
Fruit picking
Preparing for the food market
Greenhouse
Food transformation
Watering the plants
Chopping or cutting wood.

Hébergement
The accommodation is rural and 40-minute away from any type of civilization. Still, there is public jeep service three times a day. The volunteer would have a comfortable simple bed, a and have access to a fridge, a warm shower, an easy to use smoke free wood stove, fruit and vegetables grown in the garden. Since our diet here is mostly vegetarian/ vegan like, this is a good place for those who love eating raw food and have a detox with fruit and vegetables grown around. It's good to say that 80% of our diet comes from the farm itself. If you need starch, dairy or oil in your diet ( rice, lentils, pasta, etc bread,) we encourage you get it from a supermarket before coming. If not, there might be some food in the school you can buy from for a fair price in case you need it. If the volunteer feels like using gas for cooking, there's a$5.000 pesos fee per person every single day he/she wants to use it.
Since there is a good variety of veggies and fruit, and volunteers have different eating habits, we encourage volunteers to appreciate and take their time to cook whatever they want at their own time. It's a good place to explore flavors and textures, so take it as an opportunity to explore yourself in this area.
This is a rural area full of bugs and changing weather conditions. We appreciate if you come prepare for active physical activities outside with comfortable clothes and trekking boots ( at least ). We could provide rubber boots in case you require them.
Autres infos...
In free times there is always the possibility of using the spaces of the house to watch movies, read, be in a hammock and watch the sunset. Likewise, the volunteer could walk the natural trails of the environment where there is a wide variety of crops and a lot of birds to watch. With respect to access, we are in the northern area of Quindío, so both Filandia and Salento are at a relatively close distance when taking public transport from the same farm. It is worth mentioning that during their stay volunteers can learn and benefit from medicinal plants and their therapeutic uses in order to provide spiritual cleansing and detoxification of their body.

This experience was very interesting and we learned a lot about coffee production and life on a self-sufficient farm.
I would highly recommend this workaway to other volunteers.
Thank you again Andres, Betsy and Andy !
Mil gracias chicos, y muchos… read more

We learnt about the coffee process. We harvested the coffee cherries, washed them, peeled them, sun-dried them and last but not least, drank the coffee :) We also picked tomatoes, packed them for the market and planted onions.
