Description
Dear Workawayer,
Thank you for taking the time to read our profile!
We are Marco and Mathies, a father-and-son team with a shared passion for sailing and adventure.this is a beautiful, traditional, rigged ship, built in Denmark in 1957. Originally a fishing vessel, Marco transformed her into the stunning sailing vessel she is today in 2012.
For 10 years, we’ve sailed - across the world, mainly exploring tropical regions. From crossing vast oceans to visiting remote islands, - has taken us to some incredible places, and we would love to share our stories and experiences with you!
Currently, we are sailing in the Atlantic, with Portugal as - home base. In the summer, we cruise around the Azores, and in the winter, we sail to Morocco, the Canary Islands, Madeira, and back to the mainland.
Between summer and winter, - is mostly docked along the beautiful Portuguese coast, and we sail once about ten days, depending on the weather and our schedule. This is a great opportunity for you to learn about ship maintenance, the art of sailing, and what life aboard a traditional vessel is really like.
Between our sailing trips, we focus on maintaining and improving the ship, so there’s plenty of hands-on work for you to get involved in. If you're curious about sailing, eager to learn, and excited to be part of our small, close-knit crew, we’d love to have you aboard!
Feel free to read on and find out more about life here. We can’t wait to welcome you to our floating home!Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

You’ll have the opportunity to experience what it's like to live on a ship. A vessel like ours always requires care and attention, so maintenance is a continuous process—and you’ll get to learn some valuable DIY skills along the way.
When we head out to sea, and if you're interested, I’d be happy to teach you everything about sailing, navigation, weather patterns, safety, tender driving, and more. With years of experience, I genuinely enjoy sharing my knowledge with eager and curious newcomers.
If this sounds like an adventure you’d love to be a part of, don’t hesitate to reach out! We look forward to hearing from you.Aide
Over the past two years, we've been fortunate to have had the help of many wonderful Workawayers from all over the world, and it’s been a truly positive experience each time!
At the moment, we’re looking for 1 or 2 easy-going, proactive individuals (preferably over 30) to join us onboard and assist with various tasks. No boating experience is required!
The work includes a mix of tasks such as:
Painting both inside and outside of the boat
Assisting with wood projects and general DIY projects
Helping with cleaning, including the engine room
Household duties like cooking, cleaning, and keeping the boat cozy and welcoming
Taking care of plants, sewing (we’re looking to refresh our sofa covers), and sail repairs
Laundry and general upkeep
We also need some help with computer work, such as updating my personal WordPress website, which has been overdue for a refresh since 2020.
If you’re hands-on, enjoy working on a variety of tasks, and are excited to contribute to life on a beautiful sailing vessel, we’d love to hear from you!Langues

Still learning Portugese and i will keep learning the coming years, i hope.Hébergement
At the moment the ship is on anchor in Peniche. The ship is 28 meters over all and has plenty space and everything on board. Besides all the safety and navigation systems: 2 toilets, 2 hot showers, heating system for the colder days, good beds (you will have your own cozy cabin), fully equipped kitchen, plenty water and electricity, sound system and even a movie projector. So don't think it's a sort of survival here, it's very comfy here on our own little island.

I spend two weeks on the boat and had a great time and a lot of laughs with Marco and the workaway crew. Marco is a good host, and you will be well taken care of.
