Description
Our property is based in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, its only half an acre but have plenty of projects always on the go. The property has an ocean view and is even walkable to the beach. This was a bare piece of land when we purchased it but have since added gardens, and have ducks. Ōpōtiki itself has so much to offer if you love being in the country and also near the beach, there are hikes, bike trails, rivers, golfing, fishing and hunting. Sam is a qualified builder so it is an opportunity to learn from a carpenter and Melissa is an avid gardener and crafter.

While you're here, you'll pick up some skills in basic carpentry, gardening, and crafting. Melissa's a marine biologist who works with a conservation non-profit, so if you're into the ocean, she's always happy to share her knowledge. She's also super creative and can show you how to spin wool, sew, or even some upholstery. Sam’s a hands-on maker who loves building furniture, doing earth building, and he's an experienced hunter too. We’ve got our own earth oven and love firing it up to cook pizzas or meals made with produce from the garden and meat Sam’s hunted.

Aide
We are looking for someone to help Sam with projects and help Melissa in the garden. Most projects will be done with Sam unless it is something you are skilled in and may be asked to do some projects on your own. Melissa works a full time remote job so does not have as much time to spend in the garden and needs help with planting, pruning and getting the garden back up to shape.

You will be staying in our guest caravan which has been fully renovated and has a brand new queen size mattress. This has a heater for the winter months and stays cool enough during the summer. The caravan is located next to the shed which has a full bathroom and laundry. We have a full size kitchen in our tiny home and also an outdoor kitchen with an earth oven and small grill.

Our property is a 20 minute walk to the beach if you wanted to spend any free time by the water. We usually go into town at least once a day so we are happy to take you with us to run any errands or show you around. We often like to go for walks or hikes and are happy to take you with us. We are both non smokers so we do prefer there is no smoking on the property. We are both pretty laid back and love sharing our skills.

We are happy to have digital nomads, we have Starlink so we have unlimited WiFi with high speeds. As long as you are able to help with some of our projects around the property, we are pretty flexible with our schedule.

We have space to park a camper or motorhome and we have a caravan plug on the property.
