Description
Hello everybody! My name is Manoush and I'm a 40 year old women living close to the center of Graz in a beautiful nature spot on a hill with a big huge garden where a lot of help is needed. I moved here four years ago after I have been travelling for 2,5 years and it was nothing there but high grass and old apple trees. I bought a little trailer, put a little greenhouse, made parches for veggies, added a bathroom and a kitchen to the trailer, transformed the old carport into a little workshop and finally this year put my own little Tiny House. We are just about to finish details on my sweet and cozy tiny House with my Argentinian partner who is going back to Patagonia very soon where I met him on my travels. I used to be a workawayer as well on very different places in France, Morroco, Brazil, Chile and Argentina. I learned a lot about what makes a good place where you feel appreciated as a workawayer and also some places where this didn't happen. Mostly it was great experiences though and I do not want to miss one of them. Now I want to open my place to other travelers and new experiences.
The place is remote and close to the center at the same time. It's beautifully situated on one of the hills close around the city. You will have full immersion into nature but you can be down town in less than 10 minutes with the bike rolling down the hill. I can provide you a bicycle. If you like to walk it will take you some 30 minutes to arrive in the center of Graz. There is also a bus connection once you've walked down the hill.
Although I live here for four years now I feel like the place is still in it's beginnings. It was a balancing act between making my living and transforming the place here which both demanded a lot of energy and also money. Since I'm back from my travels I'm working as a freelancer for a small local company which is a food delivery service with green values. I really appreciate to be the boss of my time and resources and I love to be on the streets of Graz all time feeling free on my bike and enjoying lots of fresh air and sunshine, wind, rain or snow.
Right now while writing these lines I'm looking outside the window watching a deer with its fawn grazing between the high grass and the wild flowers. I love to live this way! It's very simple though totally fulfilling more than only my basic needs. The place is a very quiet place where you will find lots of calm moments as well as some noise of the neighbors mowing their meadows and pruning their trees and what not. So there will be time to chill and enjoy together and alone as well as time to work in the garden, to clean the trailer or the kitchen, to empty your compost toilet and to build new structures on the land. The surroundings are beautiful and you can go for long walks if you wish or ride the bike.
Depending on your skills there will be plenty of different work areas. Mostly it will be planting, sowing, weeding, collecting slugs :) harvesting - let's say - taking care of the garden together with me. Besides the garden I do have some other projects in mind like rebuilding the Geodesic dome which was destroyed by a hailstorm in the first year or improving the infrastructure of the water system for the trailer and the kitchen and as well improve the isolation of the buildings. I can imagine a big mural on the wing doors of the workshop if you have artistic skills or sculptures for the garden. Build more insect homes, to create a herb garden and prepare fire wood for the winter. Actually the list is kind of endless and I'm curious about your ideas for the place as well. I do have my own ideas and visions but you are welcome to be part of forming this place with your own creative expressions as long as the resources are allowing it.
You will have plenty of time on your own because sometimes I will work or have some time on my own - which I seriously need a lot. But there might be opportunities to hike in the mountains, or to swim in lakes. Unfortunately Graz is a bit remote to both but from time to time I rent a car and do some of these activities.
Well, so much about me and the place. :)

There are lots of learning opportunities here on this beautiful place. I'm happy to exchange experience, knowledge, good food, hugs .. :) Also the city is quite green and alternative, very relaxed. The old town has a charm of its own ... lots of cultural activities to do... You could also go on hikes or ride the bike.

The help I need is varied, but can basically be selected according to preferences and abilities. Nevertheless, the vegetable garden is certainly very important. In a bed of approx. 12 x 25 m, there is always weeding, collecting slugs, sowing new seeds, renewing the mulch and, of course, harvesting and processing the harvest into delicious dishes, which you or we can then eat together or preserve for later. Outside the garden beds, mowing the meadow where we regularly spend time and collecting the mulch is of course always an issue. The compost heaps will sometimes have to be moved. Twice a year I prune the apple trees, the branches have to go through the shredder and the shredded material is then used for the paths. I try to build up a circular economy as best I can. Everything natural should go back into the soil. By and large, these are the jobs that need to be done in the garden over the summer. I will always try to take into account your available strength and preferences or dislikes with regard to specific work. This means that I will not ask you to turn the compost if you are not physically able to do so. It is important that you always say openly if you have any concerns about carrying out a job. I'm sure we can always find a solution.
In addition to the garden, however, there will also be other possible areas of work depending on your skills and interests. As already mentioned, there are still some things in the infrastructure that need to be improved or changed. If you are a handyman, there are many things you can do, such as rebuilding the Geodesic Cathedral. I would love to create a nice place where we can meditate or people can do yoga and/or art and other things according to their preferences. The workshop could do with a new organizational structure so that workawayers from all over the world can quickly find out where things are and so on. It still follows the logic of my Argentinian life partner. It's reasonably tidy, but sometimes I can't find things myself. I'm also thinking about setting up a few more relaxation areas here on the property. Nice little niches where you can retreat and listen to the birds. As I love to recycle used materials, I'm always looking on the Willhaben platform to see if people are giving away usable things such as wood and much more. That's why we sometimes collect these things from people together with a rental van. That reminds me, firewood is also an issue. Preparing for the winter has to be all about that. I'm always looking for logs or other wood that people want to get rid of.
I would also appreciate it if you have any artistic skills and experience with murals. I would love to decorate the outside of the workshop door with a great mural. One wall of the Tiny House is also crying out for color. If you are interested, we can talk about it and develop a design together, get some paint and off we go :) Unfortunately, I am not artistically gifted in this respect, so the execution can only be up to you. I will of course support you as much as possible.
At the moment, these are the things that are pending or that come to mind. If new projects come up, I will announce them in my profile.
Anything that requires machines or equipment that could be dangerous, I will do myself. So you don't need to worry about that.Langues

I can offer you to learn German if you wish - and my plan is to refresh and improve my little french before it's going to be lost totally :)Hébergement
Cozy Trailer with a comfortable mattress, pillow and cover, a tiny wood stove, place to put your clothe, little table with bench, compost toilet and simple shower/bathroom. Towels can also be provided. This will be your own 4 walls. I provide all the the bedding. You can also pitch a tent if you want to or just put your Camper Van on the land. In any case I will make it as comfortable as possible for you.
You will be living in the little trailer with a compost toilet and a very simple shower system. It's totally cozy but basic. Maximum I can host 2 people at the same time. Either both in the trailer when you are a couple or otherwise very intimate friends or one person in a tent outside and the other in the trailer. You can chose between 3 h work per day and have breakfast or 5 h work per day and have 3 meals. It's up to you! You can also chose your working times and feel free to pause whenever you want. You can sleep late or you can get up early. I really want you to feel free and go with your rhythms - I'll do as well! You will be responsible for preparing your own meals. Vegan, Vegetarian, gluten free - all is possible! The food will be covering basic needs and some goodies due to limited financial means. But don't worry there will be enough and and it will be also healthy. There will always be lots of veggies and fruits from the garden. If you are a meat eater you need to by your own meat. You can feel free to do so! Sometimes we can eat together and sometimes not.Autres infos...
As I said, the city is very close. Pretty charming little city, lots of music, art and cultural sights of the ancient old town. You can use the bike to go down in less than 10 minutes. Also public transport is available once you're down the hill (walking time 10 minutes)
