  Description

  We are Jourena and Yorgos. We work together and other volunteers to run a shelter, a clinic and a recovery house for dogs. We also run street feeding, adoption program, and educational services.
  
  We are based in South Lombok, close to Kuta, which is a fast developing tourist town with many lifestyle expats who love surfing, diving, and jungle adventures.
  
  At the shelter, we employ local staff as vets, assistants, and carers but the management, fundraising, and finance jobs we do by ourselves.
  
  Joining us will be an exciting experience - if you are a dog lover! - and one that allows you to live in a tropical paradise.

  Volunteering here guarantees fast socialisation. We are outgoing people who know many expats in Kuta. There are parties, padel games, world-class surfing and beginners beaches, and many other fun activities in town.
  
  Volunteers with social media or content-creation skills will learn how to capture rescues respectfully, tell stories with dignity, and communicate the challenges of street-dog work in a developing country. We also help you understand animal welfare ethics, local culture. You’ll get opportunities to create photos and videos that go directly into our fundraising channels, which can be a strong addition to your portfolio.
  
  We hope to learn fresh storytelling styles, creative editing approaches, and strategies from different media cultures. Every content-creator brings a unique visual language, and we want to understand the perspectives you have.
  
  If you are young and looking into starting a career in social media, we are confident that Kuta Lombok and the shelter is a good way to start. We can help you connect with employers (hotels, villas, restaurants) who constantly look for social media skills and your volunteering work might open up full time employment opportunities in Lombok.

  Aide

  We are currently looking for social media savvy people. Videographers, documentarists, video editors, youtubers, and people with similar skills. Long experience is not needed - all we want is someone to tell the stories of rescues, dogs healing from accidents, adoptions, and our fundraising events in Kuta Lombok. We have some social media experience ourselves and we are willing to grow together.
  
  More practically on the ground:
  
  1) vets will call you when there is a dog in distress and you will record the medical emergency. After this, you will organise to capture footage as the dog heals in our rehab house. Other type of footage will be thematic (e.g. a video on our construction progress or another one for handicapped dogs) and for this we will cooperate closely as a team.
  
  2) Another work is the editing and posting, mostly on IG and TT, and if skills and time allow, it would be great to bring our youtube channel back to life.
  
  Depending on how many volunteers we find, these two (videography and editing) might be carried out by different persons.

  Hébergement

  You will stay in a comfortable private room inside a small guesthouse in Kuta. The room has its own private bathroom, good water pressure, an AC, and a clean, quiet atmosphere. You’ll have access to all guesthouse facilities, including a swimming pool, chill-out areas, and fast Wi-Fi. Fresh linens are provided, and the space is kept tidy and secure. It’s a relaxed environment where you can unwind after rescue work, meet other travelers, and enjoy the warm, tropical vibe of South Lombok.
  
  We will give a free food allowance (three meals) at the restaurant Elamu Lombok which I own. The restaurant is in Kuta where the accommodation is located.

  Autres infos...

  For maximum freedom, it's important to be able to ride a motorbike. This is not extremely necessary for the social media work at the shelter, as we can certainly arrange your daily transportations as needed.
  
  We also expect you to bring your own equipment, like camera, phone, and laptop. We are an early-stage shelter and unfortunately we cannot provide these ourselves.
