    Description

    Katrina and I (Ian) live on our beautiful 100-acre hobby farm in Northeast Tasmania, 25 minutes from Launceston where we have lived for 34yrs.
    We have 2 sons - Blake who works as a rafting guide and kayaker in Australia and OS and is currently in Canada. Flynn who works as an aerialist performer on cruise ships around the world.

    Our farm features fenced paddocks, gardens, horse arenas, and native forests with a variety of wildlife.. We have horses, dogs, goats, chickens, and occasionally cattle and we are working towards regenerative farm practices.

    Katrina has a diverse skills base and currently runs an Equine Assisted Psychotherapy programs on the farm. The program impacts the daily farm routine by requiring careful coordination of resources and scheduling.

    I work on a casual basis as a Ship Captain, and I volunteer with Ambulance Tasmania and Australian Redcross Emergency Services.

    As well as enjoying our time on the farm we partake in activities including indoor bouldering, packrafting, kayaking and bushwalking which we enjoy together and with friends.

    There are numerous orchards and vineyards in the district and we are located 25mins drive from the city of Launceston. Many small towns, coastal communities, pristine beaches and forests lie within a short distance from our farm.
    We are multi-skilled as you would expect with trade and academic qualifications, are well travelled and enjoy exchanging knowledge and experience with others.

    We would love the company of energetic helpers of any age willing to participate in the daily routines on a small farm. Farm experience, working with animals and being handy with tools although not essential would be an advantage. The work you will do will be physical, repetitive and rewarding but not too arduous, and we would like you to be able to undertake activities with minimal supervision. When not involved in farm activities you will have a magnificent space where you can relax and enjoy much of what our farm and the region has to offer.

    Activities will include;

    Fence building and maintenance,
    garden care, tree planting, animal care, cutting and stacking firewood, potentially operate farm equipment such as quad bike, ride-on mower, whipper snipper and other equipment depending on skills and experience. Fruit picking (when in season).

    Workawayers will stay in a newly built 36sqm demountable cabin suitable for 2 or possibly 3 people and separate from the main house. It is clean and safe, fully self contained with all amenities including bathroom, kitchen, laundry, heating, a double bed, and expansive outside deck, however no television or wifi but internet is available through telephone services. Hotspotting is common.
    Food will be provided but Workawayers must cook for themselves and will be expected to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

    We travel to Launceston and other places often but not daily and Workawayers are welcome to join us when we do so. There is public transport to major centres and we can take you to pickup locations if necessary.
    Katrina runs an Equine Assisted Psychotherapy program on the farm 3 or more days a week. When her clients are on the premises we ask that their space is respected and personal interactions are avoided.
    There will be daily chores such as preparing feeds, feeding horses and other livestock.
