  Description

  Izaac and Kerbi are now managing the family ranch that Kerbi grew up on. Izaac and Kerbi have 3 kids who are very social and enjoy meeting new people from different countries. Owen is 6 years old and in grade 1. Steven is 5 years old and in Kindergarten. The family ranch has cows, goats, barnyard birds, horses, cats and dogs. We enjoy gardening, nature and western pursuits. The Workawayer's will be housed in a mobile home in the cute little village of Halkirk. The mobile home has 2 bedrooms. The ranch is located 5 minutes drive north of the village of Halkirk.

  Izaac and Kerbi believe strongly in sustainable agriculture. By intensive grazing the cattle, it mimics the way the buffalo used to graze the plains. It allows the grass plenty of time for re-growth and the cattle will only ever be in that particular paddock once that year. Izaac is passionate about his grass and managing grazing on western Canadian grass lands. Izaac and Kerbi's homesite is run completely off solar panels and they live off grid for power.
  
  Workawayers will be involved in the daily checks of animals, daily checks of fence which is mainly electric fence but some barb wire, gardening and interest in lots of open land hiking/walking.

  Aide

  We need someone who has a drivers license and is a competent winter driver. We will need someone to do school pick ups and drops offs as well as help drive the boys to their activities in the winter. Owen is in school 5 days a week and Steven is in school 3 days a week until June. During summer-time childcare is needed 3 days a week while Kerbi works in town. We need someone who is willing to cook 3 or 4 nights a week and some light housecleaning. Workawayers have many outside jobs available depending on their area of interest and the time of year.

  The boys love learning languages. We have hosted before on the wwoof website when the woofers coming had limited English.

  Hébergement

  The Workawayers will be housed in a mobile home in the cute little village of Halkirk. The mobile home has 2 bedrooms. The ranch is located 5 minutes drive north of the village of Halkirk. The village of Halkirk has about 100 residents with a hotel, pub and restaurant. We will do a supper meal together as a family at the ranch. Workawayers will be provided food in the house in Halkirk to cook their own breakfasts and pack a bag lunch. We have hosted volunteers before and have experience with cultural exchanges. Kerbi has an allergy to smoke. So we are not able to host workawayers who smoke.

  We love fishing, canoeing, swimming, hiking, riding, camping, cook outs, BBQ, star gazing and reading books. We are located 15 min drive from Big Knife Provincial Park where there is lots of fishing, camping and hiking. Part of the ranch is located on a beautiful coulee and offer plenty of opportunities for hiking and adventures. The village of Halkirk has about 100 residents with a hotel, pub and restaurant. Drumheller which is known for the Dinosaur Museum is 1 hour drive away. There is an outdoor swimming pool in Castor which is a 20 min drive away.

  We have plenty of room to part a motorhome or campervans. The winter would be trickier though and would require more conversations.
