We operate an organic permaculture homestead offering life / work experience in environmental regeneration, resourceful building and sustainable homesteading. As a wildlife sanctuary and part of ProEco (an environmental non-profit/charity). We (usually) host short courses in horticulture, native regeneration, ecology, geology, bio-dynamics, astronomy, and weather -- as well as music, art and meditation retreats -- HOWEVER, these are currently suspended (until borders open).
Located in the beautiful Noosa Hinterlands of the Sunshine Coast region in Queensland Australia. Our place is a 50 acre, rather remote, plot near the top of Black Mountain with views of our surrounding volcanic region. Our wondrous place is 1/3 cleared grass/gardens, 1/3 forested timber, and 1/3 rugged native bush. We have among the largest collections of Bromeliads (over 6000) and Frangipani (over 400) you'll find. There are endless varieties of feathered, fury, and scaly creatures -- we enjoy and respect them all! Native regeneration underway over 30 years and we are now more permaculture focused (to care for the land, care for people, and share the abundance).
My partner and I are easy-going, middle age guys, well-traveled, multi-lingual and focus on quality of life and try to live each day to the fullest. This means sharing great meals, camaraderie, and activities that are both rewarding yet productive. We make time to enjoy the weather, sunsets, stars, hike the local trails each day and we hit the nearby lakes, beaches and festivals weekly.
I'm Brett, an environmental engineer by training, a builder and jack-of-all trades, and active outdoors man. Nick runs an online travel business and works in aged care by day yet works around the place and cares for our animals and gardens when possible. Both of us are very active around the place and work with you rather than having "chores".
Often looking for helpers, teachers, students -- as we're all learning each and every day! We stay busy... if you are looking to participate in an active retreat with space to be with nature and enjoy tranquility with yourself -- then we are likely well suited.
Come join us in growing our garden/orchards, building new structures, enhancing hiking trails, and other amenities for future guests. We always enjoy and appreciate a variety of cultures, skills and perspectives.

Though we work on numerous projects by day -- we welcome creatives, naturalist, and others who enjoy varied activities as we work together or relax. We utilise bio-dynamic, organic, and permaculture practices and are pleased to share and engage visitors keen to participate. Shared wholesome "flexitarian" meals where everyone contributes -- harvest, prep, cook, clean; and comfortable accommodation in a peaceful environment provided. Property has varied forests, hiking trails, creeks, wildlife and many birds -- a real nature paradise! We encourage our helpers to get out and enjoy the area (having your own bike or vehicle is a BIG advantage if you want to explore away from our property).

Varied activities including: tending to our large gardens & orchards, hiking trail maintenance, land-care improvements, permaculture implementation, and helping with our shared meals. We are also expanding and developing our WordPress websites if you are an experienced web person.
Over the next few months we plan to: expand and enhance our hiking trails, build a tiny house treehouse, erosion control measures (including building a new irrigation dam), building more raised garden beds, and build a rocket stove hot water heater/pizza oven. Many of our projects are quite physically demanding so strength, stamina and determination are highly regarded.
As we endeavour to accommodate many visitors, our average visit is 7-14 days -- (extension if projects, space, and camaraderie permit). Apologies in advance if you are looking for visa sponsorship as we cannot assist.

Several accommodation options on the property from: timber barn with sleeping loft, quaint tiny houses, magical canyon cabin, tent camping and/or camper vans welcome. Unlimited internet, abundant power yet limited rainwater (no frequent, long, hot showers), and sharing meals / amenities. We take great pride in the comfort of our guests and rely on the efforts of helpers to create new comforts and experiences for others.
We are just off the Bruce Highway, 15 minutes from Pomona or Cooroy (our nearest bus/train stops) -- for timetables and details search: "Translink Journey Planner".
Remote feel yet 15 minute drive to local community amenities / Noosa Trail Network, half hour to Noosa beach / national park. and 25 minutes from Gympie (large country town). We visit town, beach, nearby communities, and markets each week -- helpers are welcome to join us.
Plenty of hiking, natural areas, beaches, and outdoor activities to discover!

We have good wi-fi coverage around our buildings and forest with unlimited internet. It's not fast as fibre -- but pretty good for wireless.
Visitors with caravans, campers or even tents are most welcome. However, we do not have sewer connection or dump facilities.
Being a wildlife sanctuary, we are unable to accommodate pets.
