    Description

    Join us!

Hello everyone! My name is Bird, I was working in Chiang-Mai as a photographer for 2 years then decided to become a farmer and create a Thai traditional agriculture permaculture farm in 2018. I wish to create a relaxing place that allows people from all over the world to take their time to experience life in harmony with nature. I also have four water buffalo on our farm, named Tony, Hanna. We are a local family with a desire to preserve our simple, sustainable way of life so that we can give back to and protect mother earth.

Our farm is located in Pua city, 70 km north of Nan province surrounded by the mountains and rice fields, in Northern Thailand. The farm is set on 1.5 acres of land with vegetable gardens, rice paddies, Currently, we have done with natural buildings on the farm, including bamboo huts, fences, and wooden houses.

On a long journey away from home My farm is a perfect ‘second home’ as volunteers are introduced to a simple way of living amidst breathtaking views and a caring, connected community. Here in Pua, a rural district in the northeastern province of Nan, Thailand, the farm is surrounded by the wonders nature has to offer from elegant mountains, gentle rice fields, a lively streamlet, and the endless charming sky. Mother Nature is generous enough to offer us this beautiful land we call home. Thus, we take accept this offering with gratitude and live in a way that honors her.

This is a family farm passed down from grandfather to son to grandson, Bird, who serves as its present caretaker along with his partner Dao and his parents Me Lai and Pa Khamoun. The farm’s one and half acres is comprised of lush landscape created by grass and rice fields, fruit trees, and vegetable and herb gardens, all resting beneath the mountains that call this land home. Everything on the farm was hand built by Bird, his family and friends, and volunteers. This includes the traditional Thai style huts and cabins where Bird and Dao live and guests who visit the farm stay, the solar paneling, the well and water system, and more. Also calling the farm home are two water buffalo, Tony and Hannah, and three cats, Mimi, Martin. When joining volunteers are brought into the family and are well cared for. Community building is essential to the fabric of it is the family’s priority for volunteers to feel at home.

“Life is better with a Buffalo” is our farm goal and “Happiness only real when shared “ is our motto. You will learn how to live with buffalo such as, how buffalo help farmers working on the farm, also will enjoy bathing with them. And you will have a great time with community sharing.

Life on the farm offers a fulfilling balance of work/activity, rest and relaxation, and social connection. Some of offers include: planting and watering vegetables and picking them from the garden for meals, trekking, cooking local dishes, collecting firewood, bathing the buffaloes, making fertiliser, cutting bamboo, bicycle rides, afternoon siestas, playing the farm’s guitar, swimming in the river, socialising around the fire, visiting the local market, exploring the village, observing the locals weaving, or on some days going to the forest to gather and forage fruit, and more. Some work - like gardening - is seasonal and as such, won’t be an option year round. Rice planting is in July and harvest is in October, which is something volunteers can assist with during these processes.
The farm is located in a small, rural village a short drive from Pua’s city center. It is not a touristy area and local life here is quiet and peaceful. Pua and the nearby village stores have most anything a visitor would need during their stay. Importantly, Dai Dib Dai Dee is not a tourist attraction. It is a functioning farm and folks should to be committed and interested in the simple, rural farming life.your free time, you will be able to enjoy the beauty of nature that surrounds our farm, which is on the edge of large mountains and valleys. We will also provide activities and adventures to local caves and waterfalls, as well as mountain trekking.

  • Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

Traveling for a cultural exchange—especially in a unique, remote setting like yours—goes way beyond a standard vacation. It’s a total perspective shift.

Here is how travelers benefit and what they actually walk away with.
1.Real Lifeskills & Rare Craftsmanship Instead of just consuming a culture as a tourist, travelers become creators. By learning traditional crafts like bamboo weaving, toy making, and local embroidery, they gain tangible, offline skills that are becoming rare in the modern world. It sparks creativity and gives them a deep appreciation for sustainable, handmade arts.
    2. Digital Detox & Mental Clarity
Living away from the hustle of big cities allows travelers to slow down. Practices like morning yoga and meditation help them ground themselves, manage anxiety, and build mindfulness habits that they can carry back into their hectic daily lives.
    3. Resilience and Resourcefulness
Living closer to nature and adapting to a farm’s rhythm teaches travelers how to be adaptable. They learn that they don't need a supermarket on every corner to live a rich, happy life. It builds grit, problem-solving skills, and self-reliance.
    4. Deep Connection & Empathy
By sharing meals, working side-by-side with locals, and understanding the challenges and beauty of rural life, travelers break down cultural stereotypes. They learn a new language (or at least some great local phrases!), understand different worldviews, and build lifelong friendships rooted in mutual respect rather than money.
Are you looking to add these points into your Workaway profile intro to make it even more compelling for volunteers.
In Pua, we are full of nature and local knowledges such as herbs, trekking skills, local food knowledge, local plants, handicrafts like weaving and natural dying cotton. Moreover there are some unique cultures from a hill-tribe nearby.
‘We’ time are night activities for the first few nights to ice-break and friend us together, such as sharing circle, local ice breaking game, tea ceremony etc.

Whether you can accept Workawayers with pets is entirely up to you, but given your farm's unique location and setup, here are a few things to consider before you decide: 🐾 Things to Consider for Your Farm Your Own Animals: If you have farm animals, livestock, or local watchdogs, how will they react to an outsider's pet? The Remote Mountain Setting: Being close to the mountains means local wildlife, stray animals, or rough terrain. Is it safe for a traveler's pet? Accommodation & Cleanliness: Will the pet stay in the volunteer quarters? If you have strict rules about cleanliness or shared spaces, a pet might complicate things.
