  Description

  We are a semi retired couple with a newly built house and separate 2-bedroom guest house overlooking the hills of Atherton. Located within the small town of Atherton, everything is in close walking distance. We have travelled extensively and lived in Asian countries for more than 25 years. We enjoy people's company and get pleasure of assisting others. We cook and eat anything. We can provide a fully furnished apartment with all amenities (cooking, washing, etc) or a room within the main house - queen beds in all bedrooms , parking is available.

  Both my wife and I have held senior corporate roles in large global companies, we have lived and worked in several countries, so we are culturally aware and have an interest in travelers and their culture. We love Australia and enjoy sharing some of its hidden gems. We enjoy hiking and mountain biking. In my younger days I was also a competent whitewater canoeist, so I know the local waterways. Anyone that stays with us will gain local knowledge and have a couple that thoroughly understand the fun and challenges of international travel.

  Aide

  I need someone with extensive IT knowledge, someone with the ability to set-up the home network - a NAS, Virtual networks, Ubiquity Dream Machine and SmartThings and Home Assistant. This is more than a simple task as some basic programming may be required and good IT networking skills. I'm setting up my home network so others can share my Internet connection safely and securely, same for the IOE.

  I also need assistance with establishing a garden on a small house block. This will require phyisical work and someone with greenfingers and knowledge. I'm establishing a pond, spreading soil, planting trees, etc.

  Hébergement

  We have a new home with all the trimmings. The house has an attached, fully furnished 2 bedroom apartment with everything required for independent living. Internet, TV, full kitchen including 2 ovens, dishwasher, AC and off-street parking. We can loan bicycles for those wishing to explore the area. Also from time to time we are willing to take people by car to see local highlights. We also have a guest bedroom within our main house, with separate bathroom that may be offered when other friends/family are staying. Strictly no smoking or pets.
  
  All food and meals will be provided. Atherton is known for its fresh produce and weekend markets are popular.

  Atherton has great weather, a cool sub-tropical retreat. Within 30 minutes drive you can be in the dry lands or in thick rainforest; beautiful lakes and crystal clear creeks. Atherton also has an extensive hiking and mountain bike trails network. 75 minute drive from Cairns, the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, and surrounding tourist destinations.
