Description
We're a bi-national family (German-USA) with two boys, ages 3 and 7. Switching between German and English is completely normal for us in everyday life. We're nature-loving, open-minded, empathetic, and have traveled a lot ourselves, so we're especially looking forward to hosting people from all over the world. Our boys are curious and full of energy, and always excited to meet new people. We think they'll keep you entertained just as much as the other way around!
We live in the beautiful foothills of the Alps: green, hilly, with views of the mountains, and surrounded by cow pastures and horse farms. It's very rural, yet close to Munich (just 30 minutes by train, and the train station is an easy bike ride away; bikes are available for you to use). It's perfect for anyone who loves nature, hiking, or cycling, and still wants easy access to a big city for a day trip.
We have two ongoing projects: our existing family home with a garden that needs some love, and a new build in the same village. Depending on what's going on at the time, we're looking for help with different things. Sometimes it's gardening and tasks at the house or new build, other times it's childcare for our two boys (both speak English), someone who enjoys playing with them, going on little outings, and being a loving, engaged presence. So feel free to get in touch whether you're more interested in gardening/building tasks or in childcare, whichever suits you better. -

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
We love sharing our everyday life with you: game nights together, family bike tours in the area, hikes in the Alps, and other family activities, you're always welcome to join in. We also have friends in the neighboring village who regularly host Workawayers too, so there are chances to connect with the wider local community as well. And in summer, no stay here is complete without experiencing a proper Biergarten! In winter, there are easily reachable ski slopes and snow hikes nearby.
If you're interested, we're happy to teach you some German (though it's not necessary at all). Our professional backgrounds are in health science and neuroscience, and we currently work in higher education, if anything in that area interests you, we're happy to share our knowledge too.
What we hope for most is that our boys get to know different cultures and perspectives through you, it's something we really value about hosting. -

Aide
Childcare: We're looking for help on weekday afternoons after school and kindergarten, from around 2pm, playing with the kids, making snacks, and going to the playground together. Sometimes we could also use a hand for a few hours on weekends.
Gardening at our current home: Tasks include mowing the lawn, weeding, hedge trimming, sweeping, and raking.
New build (will be build and finished in 2027). Tasks will include packing boxes and bringing them to the new house, assembling furniture, and setting up rooms. There's also plenty to do outside: preparing garden beds, planting, and potentially other tasks depending on your area of expertise, we'd love that! -

Hébergement
You'll have your own private room and a small bathroom for your own use (this is our guest bathroom, which guests will occasionally use as well). You're welcome to use the kitchen, and we'd love to share meals together.
We enjoy cooking with fresh ingredients, often vegetarian though not exclusively, and we're happy to adapt to your preferences. We're also always up for learning new things in the kitchen, so feel free to bring your own recipes or cooking traditions along! -
Autres infos...
We both work from home, so there's always someone around to talk to, including in the afternoons if you have any questions about the kids. We use the kitchen constantly throughout the day too, for lunch, coffee, and so on, so it's important to us that it stays clean and tidy.
