  • Description

Update: We are looking for kind hands starting March 2021 to assit us in the bed preparation and starting new crops in our permaculture garden and witness the whole process from seed to our client's door. We would happily offer our space as a learning field for people who wants to start organic gardening and be sustainable and also for people searching to connect with nature through food and work. Starting next spring we are implementing a 12 month ESC project of permaculture and resilience in rural communities with lots of workshops around the subject.

Hello! We are Tiberiu and Camelia, a young couple living in a small village in Romania right at the meeting point of colorful plains and the Carpathian mountains.

Tiberiu studied architecture for 3 years in Paris, became very passionate about eco-construction and earth building, and got interested in permaculture. He is a vegetarian for 2 years and producing his own food became a priority and a passion. Camelia studied kinesiotherapy and right now she studies horticulture in Bucharest. She is passionate about plants and nature, about cooking and caring for people. We both try to have a balanced lifestyle and be present in all aspects of life : physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. We train our minds and our bodies with cold showers and conscious breathing, we meditate and pray, we work in the garden fully conscious about our bodies and our posture, we have sharing spaces to express our emotions. We like to celebrate through dance and playing instruments.

One year ago we decided to move on to this inherited land (5.000m²) and house and create a small and functional permaculture paradise, regenerate the degraded land and impact the local community about what we do. Several months later, a project is born through which we want to facilitate the connection between nature and humans by raising awareness, organizing ESC projects and permaculture courses. We both obtained a PDC last year and started to implement our designs and ideas into our homestead and garden. We signed up into a Community Supported Agriculture program and we deliver weekly vegetable boxes to the community. We also have chickens, an orchard with all kinds of trees, some cereals, a no dig market garden, and a lot of experimenting cultures and systems around our land. We are very open to those who wish to experiment or learn about permaculture with us and come up with ideas for raising fertility on our land. We plan to organize a 3 days Introduction to Permaculture workshop end of July which will be held in the Romanian language and for which we will need all kinds of help in cooking, building solar showers and compost toilets, arranging a camping site and so on.

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

We are one leg into sustainability and permaculture and the other into Romanian indigenous traditions, holidays, lifestyle. We admire our inherited culture a lot and we can find a lot of similarities with what we want to achieve with permaculture and we are more than happy to share what we feel and know about it.

You will learn about what the countryside lifestyle and work means for us, learning to use mostly manual tools for gardening, cooking vegetarian food and traditional dishes, give a hand in our CSA vegetable boxes.

We would happily share our stories of travel in Europe and the experiences we had abroad and the experiences in intentional ecovillages and the tools we learned there.

We live in a moderately domesticated rural village and the feeling of connection to nature and to people around can be challenging sometimes, far from what we experienced in the intentional communities we visited in Europe and it is something we can learn together. We dream to become and island of biodiversity and spread this around the land.

I can share my knowledge about natural architecture and even give some pieces of advice for your designs and together we can learn about earth building by doing. Also, our guests can take advantage on the fact that we are currently organizing, writing and giving permaculture courses and learn about what they find interesting.

We speak Romanian, English and French fluently.

Firstly we would like to have people that are enjoying living in a village and working in nature and with nature. The help we need could come from people who are not especially qualified into a skill but who are enthusiastic to learn and do stuff with their hands.

We could use a hand in cleaning the yard, build decorations or other small projects, painting fences, organizing tools and objects around the barn. We could use a hand in cooking and tidy up the place for which we often feel that there is never enough time for it.

In the garden, we have all kinds of work like weeding, composting, mulching, cut the hay, harvest and process fruits and vegetables for winter consumption. The garden is a beautiful playground with infinite possibilities and learning.

This summer we plan to build some infrastructure around the land that would make it more inhabitable for our guests. We plan to build compost toilets and solar showers, a geodome to host events and activities in our orchard, and some furniture for our garden. We also need help in fencing some areas and create a closed pasture for animals. We also need help with renovating the old barn with earth plaster and other reparations.

For those who are design inclined, we can use help in organisational tasks like creating and facilitating events, creating promotional content for our facebook page, creating permaculture courses, infographics, posters etc.

We expect you to work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week and be autonomous with certain tasks but often we will work together. We expect you to align with our habit of cooking in rotational turns so if you are motivated we would like you to help with cooking 2-3 meals a week for everybody , but in some exceptional cases you will have to cook for yourself.

  • Hébergement

Our guest will have his own room in our house with shared bathroom or a bed in a shared room depending on the period. We will also have shower and toilet outside. There is a lot of space for camping, hammock in the orchard. We dream of finishing our cob guesthouse this summer but this will be achieved only with your help. Regarding the food, we're eating mostly vegan and vegetarian meals, depending on what is currently growing in the garden.
