    Description

We are a family of four, living right next to Oldenburg, a medium-sized town of about 175.000 inhabitants in Germany´s North-West. "Right next to" pretty much means exactly this...officially, we´re not in Oldenburg, but in Bad Zwischenahn, but as some villages of Bad Zwischenahn stretch all the way to Oldenburg, the first buildings of Oldenburg are roughly 100 meters away, whereas Bad Zwischenahn, our residence on paper, is 15km away. Oldenburg is known for its university and could be best described as a city employing many people in administration and offices, so there is a very limited industrial base. From a touristy point of view, the sea is about an hour to 90 minutes away and Bad Zwischenahn itself has become sort of a "spot" for tourists, with people enjoying nature, cycling, walking and such activities. You won´t find any elevation though, as it is hard to imagine an area flatter than North-West Germany.
In November we are going to take on a dog, a Golden Retriever puppy to be exact, and, as we are both working and our children ought to attend school, leaving a young puppy home alone for extended periods in the morning is not exactly great. We would therefore need someone to "petsit" the puppy during morning hours while we are away.

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

In terms of a cultural exchange, our sort-of hometown of Oldenburg can be best described as a typical university/student town, so while it is difficult to hammer down single "local events", it´s a nice spot for young(er) people.
Otherwise, you would be staying with us, which, by definition, means that daily life is a cultural exchange.

  • Aide

    Aide

As mentioned before, the main task would be pet/puppy-sitting during morning horus, as everybody is off to school or work. There may also be other minor tasks around the home, for example some yardwork as the season allows. What is more, as our children are just beginning to learn English, some willingness to practice some English with them, even on a limited basis, would be great, but is not a requirement. This would rather be something like "maybe it works, maybe it doesn´t...". Cooking the occasional meal would also be very much appreciated, however, at other times you could feel to join in for the same.
Right now, we think that the dog would wind up here around Mid-November, meaning that we´re looking for someone from roughly Mid November all the way through to Christmas and then potentially in January again.

    Hébergement

We have a guest room remaining in our home; basically, it is a private room of roughly 15m2. Wifi, aircon and so on and forth (never mind that air-con) is not that important during fall or winter). Food should work like feel free to join in, however note that this household has sort of gone majority vegetarian.

    Autres infos...

Concerning transport options, we have unused bikes in proper condition that can be used - if they fit your size. Other than that, busses are taking off around the corner on very regular intervals and it´s a rather urban area.
House rules would include sort of quiet hours after 8, as our children have to get up early for school and are rather young and the house could be described as having something thin walls, meaning dancing and jumping sessions at 9 pm would not exactly be appreciated.
We are non-smokers and would make non-smoking an absolute requirement both in and outside of the house. If you smoke, please don´t apply.
