  Description

  We, Tim and Caroline, live in a forest in the Catalan pre-Pyrenees with our five year old child, four cats, three rabbits, our two dogs and various chickens. We also are a foster family for animal shelters and thus temporarily care for other dogs and cats too. We are living in a centuries' old house amidst nature. It is calm and beautiful here. We facilitate a modest retreat environment and homestay (closed between November and April) for guests to reconnect with nature, themselves, and for personal/spiritual growth. We also aim to live more self-sustainably which is work in progress.

  Apart from working together, we also like interesting conversations, a good laugh and sharing with like-minded people. We have an extensive history in working for NGO's internationally. Our Catalan is on conversational level, but as we both worked abroad a lot and we can help you improve your English, Dutch (or Spanish depending on your current level) and share experiences. We believe we offer a nice balance of being on your own as well as sharing time together, between working independently and exchanging (work) knowledge. During time-off there are many opportunities to explore the Catalan culture, nature, history, art and we are open to see how we can accomodate this.

  Aide

  We are looking for people who enjoy manual labour outdoors and who love tranquility and nature. A single traveller, a couple, or two or three friends would be great. We are looking for help for one or a few weeks at a time, with possibility to extend. We'll work alongside, sharing skills and open to learn new things together.
  The land, forest and garden need some work, plus there is relatively simple maintenance jobs on the premises. We also have bad weather alternatives inside depending on the priority jobs at the time. Due to the environment we are in, being generally handy is a must. Our aim is to share some time with likeminded people being part of our day-to-day life, and hopefully inspire and being inspired. Note that you are not considered an unpaid co-worker (for more specialist jobs that we don't feel comfortable to handle ourselves and for help during the season that we are open to guests we deploy local workforce if need be).
  We suggest your help is during five days a week, we can mutually agree which ones. As for working hours we propose 08:30 to 14:00 (includes a break). We look forward to sharing a warm lunch together afterwards. Importantly, we are flexible and willing to accomodate your personal wishes and expertise, taking into account our own schedule and the jobs on hand.

  Hébergement

  Accommodation is in a private room(s) with your own bathroom. You are expected to keep the room(s) clean yourself. We also have a beautiful space for a camper van. Please be environmentally conscious.
  We suggest to have lunch together on working days and will provide groceries for the other meals. All food provided is vegetarian and we ask you to live like one during your stay as this is an intrinsic part of our vision.

  Autres infos...

  We are located approx. 30km west of Girona, rather isolated amidst the forested hills. The nearest villages with basic amenities are some 15 minutes away by car. From there you will also find public transport by bus to e.g. Girona and Barcelona (generally 3 times a day) with good connections to the beach and the mountains. We can pick up/drop off upon agreement. Our spot is by many (including ourselves 🙂) considered a paradise for hiking, meditating, relaxing, star-gazing and wildlife/bird spotting and ideal for writing, studying, reading and introspection. When we go to Girona or Olot you are welcome to hop on and enjoy a few hours of urban life.

  There is good internet available (optic fibre) in the main house, which is a shared space, and on one of the terraces outside. There generally is 4G mobile coverage too.
