  We have lived in the beautiful, quiet, little mountain destination of Valemount, BC, and are excited to welcome workawayers to our home. I'm Annie, originally from the UK and came to Canada 13 years ago as a Workawayer myself. It was the best decision of my life and I loved Canada so much I never left! I met my husband, Freeman (Canadian) through Workaway and we have done a couple of Workaways together around the world. We have an almost 3yr old Son together.
  
  We are would prefer to host 2 people at once, ideally a couple as we have one bedroom available with a queen bed. We moved into our current home about 18 months ago and have been doing renovations and we are looking for some help to get things finished. So if you have experience with that kind of thing and are a generally handy person we'd love to host you! Feel free to message me if you want to know the specifics about the projects we have on the go.
  
  We are also need help with looking after our Son. He is in daycare for part of the week but we would love some help in the time he is at home. He is a super social little guy who loves being outside and loves biking and climbing (we have a bouldering gym right here in town and a bike park). He also loves trains, trucks, lego and magnatiles. If you enjoy working with kids we'd love to host you!
  
  Valemount is nestled between three mountain ranges: The Rockies, The Caribous, and The Monashees, just over an hour away from Jasper National Park making it the perfect base to explore from. We moved here in October 2024 to get back to living in a small town with great access to the outdoors. In the winter we enjoy snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing; in the summer we climb, hike, bike and paddle. If you want to experience living in a small, quiet town with a great community and amazing access to the outdoors right on your doorstep, this would be a great match for you!

  Freeman and I have done workaways together and we met because I did a Workaway with his Mum's business, a white water rafting company in Grande Cache, Alberta. We have worked with many, many Workawayers through that business who have become very close friends and would now love to host someone ourselves. We would love to introduce you to the community and show you what it is we love so much about this amazing place!

  Aide

  The 2 things we need help wth are renovations in our home and childcare for our Son.
  
  For renos we need help finishing a bathroom including tiling and doing all the fixtures and fittings, replacing windows, doing trim, replacing flooring and other things.
  
  We need help with childcare for when our Son is not in daycare so that we can work. This will involve playing in the house with him, reading to him, taking him outside lots, feeding him, and changing diapers. He is a very active little guy and loves to be outside. Valemount is small so it's easy to walk anywhere in town with him in the stroller.
  
  If you like to cook I'd also love some help to cook nutritious family meals!

  Happy to help you become more comfortable with English! You just need enough of an understanding to look after and communicate with a toddler :) very happy for you to share your language with him and us as well!

  Hébergement

  Large private bedroom in our home with a queen bed. Shared bathroom, kitchen and living area. Once the second bathroom reno is done you would have a private bathroom.
  
  I'm open to discussing how you would like to do food. I'm more than happy to buy enough food for all of us, to eat evening meals together and for you to help yourself like a member of the family. If you would like to keep your food separate we can accommodate that too.

  Valemount has endless opportunities for outdoor activities when it comes to time off. If you love to explore nature and the outdoors this is the perfect place for you. There are a few great restaurants and cafes in town too.
  
  How to get here: If you have a vehicle there is room to park it at our house. You can also get the train (via rail) right to Valemount or a Sundog bus to Jasper and we can pick you up from there. Valemount is remote so happy to pick you up somewhere if you need it.

  We have Starlink as we both work from home part of the time so the wifi connection is very good. There is a desk that you can use in the bedroom provided.
