Sicilian culture and sustainable farm experience in Catania, Italy

  Description

  We are Mimmo & Margherita, and we live in Catania (Sicily), in the historic center.
  We have three daughters: the two older ones live in Milan, and the youngest, 19 years old, lives with us and is still attending university.
  We created a social promotion association, which focuses on environmental education and agriculture through a permaculture project.
  We are not vegetarians, but we eat meat only once or twice a week. We place great importance on consuming organic, local products with a short supply chain, and we also have some of our own small productions. Mainly, we produce citrus fruits, but we are gradually adding other fruits (including some tropical plants) and other activities such as beekeeping and raising chickens for egg production.
  Since Mimmo retired, we have also started other projects, such as a partnership with a school to host adult students who want not only to learn Italian but also to experience Sicilian culture and enjoy a vacation full of experiences. We also organize cooking classes.
  We have had many hospitality experiences, including as exchange students, which allowed my daughters to have similar opportunities and learn new languages.
  We need a lot of help in the farm throughout all seasons, so we prioritize this type of hospitality.
  
  Siamo Mimmo & Margherita, viviamo a Catania (Sicilia), in centro storico.
  Abbiamo tre figlie, le due più grandi vivono a Milano e la più piccola, 19anni, vive con noi e frequenta ancora l'università.
  Abbiamo creato una associazione di promozione sociale, che si occupa di educazione ambientale e agricoltura con un progetto in Permacultura.
  Non siamo vegetariani ma mangiamo solo una due volte a settimana carne. Ci teniamo molto a mangiare prodotti biologici locali e con filiera corta, abbiamo anche piccole nostre produzioni. Noi produciamo principalmente agrumi ma stiamo pian piano aggiungendo altra frutta (qualche pianta tropicale) ed altre attività come apicoltura e allevamento di galline per la produzione di uova. Da quando Mimmo è in pensione abbiamo anche altri progetti , come accordo con un scuola per ospitare studenti maggiorenni che vogliono oltre che imparare italiano conoscere la cultura Siciliana e fare una vacanza ricca di esperienze. Organizziamo anche cooking class. Abbiamo avuto molte esperienze di ospitalità anche come exchange student che ha dato la possibilità alle mie figlie di fare a loro volta esperienze ed imparare le lingue nuove. Abbiamo tanto bisogno di aiuto in campagna in tutte e stagioni, quindi diamo priorità a questo tipo di ospitalità .

  Hébergement

  Double room with private bathroom in our home. We live in the city center. Catania is a vibrant city with a wealth of scenic and artistic attractions. Bike parking is available in the garage with electric charging, as well as on-street parking and a camper with a designated area. Friends and family can stay for up to three days, with arrangements to be agreed upon.
  
  Stanza matrimoniale con bagno privato a casa nostra. Viviamo al centro . Catania è una città molto vivace e molto interessante dal punto di vista paesaggistico ed artistico. Possibilità di posteggio bici in garage con possibilità di ricarica elettrica, macchina in strada, camper con area attrezzata . Possibilità di ospitare max tre giorni amici e parenti con soluzioni da concordare.
