    Description

    Mingalabar!

We are based in Yangon, Myanmar and we're on a mission to share with visitors and expats the most delicious, authentic and interesting local food through walking tours, tri-shaw tours, cooking lessons, market tours and street food catering.

We work hard to benefit the humble vendors we work closely with and for our cooking lessons we work with a female empowerment NGO by training ladies from conflict areas how to teach their ethnic food to our customers and in doing so provide the ladies with confidence and pride as teachers.

I'm Anglo-Burmese but grew up in the UK and first came to Yangon in 2012 to explore my ancestral country and reconnect with long-lost relatives. Previously working as a chef I've now immersed myself in the local street food community of cooks/vendors/market traders/food supply chain/trishaw drivers etc. learning their techniques, ingredients and travelling all over Myanmar to explore the fascinatingly diverse cuisine of this country.

Alongside myself we have a small team of local fun-loving, food-loving guides who show guests around and an office cat who is gentle but nonchalant.

Prior to settling down in Yangon I spent almost a decade of working and backpacking around the world so always happy to meet those on their journeys and pay-forward the experiences and kindness I was privileged to receive on my travels.

What we can offer you in return for your skills is free tours, accommodation, language tips and interactions with neighbourhoods and real day to day people of Yangon.

Regarding accommodation i have a spare room with single bed in spacious, airy apartment, well equipped kitchen, hot-water shower, separate dining area, long balcony with beautiful view.

Basically if you're interested in food, food culture, the daily lives of the cooks and market traders and the whole eco-system behind, you'll love what we do. We can offer access, connections and photo ops with the folks on the street that has taken years for us to develop.

Get your head around the hugely diverse and delicious cuisine of Myanmar so when you're on your travels you're not just cornered into eating fried rice. Learn about the amazing salads, curries and other snacks that haven't traveled beyond Myanmar

Come with us on our tours or for real day-to-day experiences, as I potter about town exploring the side-streets and markets as we hunt ingredients or test new places to eat. You can photo, film or write about what we see and do.

Learn some key phrases to help you with your onward travels in Myanmar and also learn how to eat safely in a country where food hygiene can be an issue.
