    Description

After my boyfriend Armin and I were travelling for about 2 years on bicycles🚲, we spent last summer in the village and did a lot of work on my family's house. We hosted many people on different platforms. Also, we've had 5 different volunteers. This summer, Armin came back to my village after middle july, and he is currently working around the house. There are some things to build with wood. For example, we would like to create a sitting area with a wooden bench and table on the balcony. Cutting firewood for the winter is another option, and if you like painting, there are small things like a door to paint. It is as well very up to you, what do you want to do. These are just some options. As well, we have a big garden with a few apple trees and many other small things to repair or to take care of. A 70 year old house is always asking for something.😊 We invested in some tools last year. As well, Armin worked for many years as a roofer in his home country, Switzerland.

Wirh that we mean that we can offer an interesting experience with well prepared projects and guidance. You will not have to search for tasks to do, as it might be the case sometimes at other places. Armin is kind of volunteering by himself. He wants to do some things around the house on in the 3-4 months he is visiting. My mother will cook delicious georgian food, and you will be sharing a lot of time with her, my younger sister, and Armin. I by myself work currently in Mestia and only rearly I am coming to the village. The house is located in a side valley about 70 km before the tourist destination Mestia. There are beautiful hikes around, and the less crowded part of the Trans Caucasian Trail (TCT) starts 300 m from our house. Of course, there will be time to enjoy that or rest in our garden. We love hiking and might be able to do a hike together, or at least we have quite some information about the hikes around

I'm looking forward to learn from Workawayers all the different ways of solutions for help connected tasks, travels and life.

We can tell you a lot about customs and life of the people here in the mountains, share some cooking recipes and skills to do things around garden.

There is not lot of social activities in the valley though sometimes we have gatherings for traditional celebrations or dinners in remembering our relatives and friends who passed away (this is a big part of local customs and lifestyle), so Workaway guest can join for any gathering our family will be included in.

Armin is really into the hiking (I'm still a bit tired and lazy for that right now) so with him you could go for hiking, and I may join sometimes too.

    Aide

    - small building projects with wood (such is a chicken house)
    - small painting tasks (door, bench,...)
    - cutting firewood
    - helping in our garden
    - collecting and drying apples

...or you bring your own idea, we are pretty flexible

We staid with a lot of hosts in so many countries on our bicycle tour. We used different platforms and as well we where spontaneously invited many times. We just love it.
Sometimes we dis as well volunteering but we didn't use any platform. We just tried a few times without clear agreement. So we know it is easy to find a place to stay for a while, but it is not easy to find a place where there is really something useful to do and some helpful equipment around.
So if you are motivated, we are ready.😊

Workawayer can sleep in the living room or in a separate room on his/her own choice. We have one shared bathroom.

Food will be provided all the time. We're eating dairy and meat, so if guest is vegetarian or vegan it is helpful to inform us. In the time when there are veggies in our garden it is easier. Aswell my mother is fasting a few days a week. Fasting in Georgia is nothing else than eating vegan. So we will find a way for shure, it's just good to know in advance as bigger shops for food are 2.5 h drive from us in Zugdidi and we don't have our own car. Aswell joghurt, cheese and other dairy products are used daily in georgian kitchen and are very convinient in a georgian mountain village.
