    Description

    Welcome to the Farm!

    We are two families, living alongside each other, slowly and intentionally establishing a land based community together.

    We are…
    * Hannah H, Erik, Sunai (3) and Aruni (1)
    * Hannah L, Will, Norah (4) and Ida (1)

    Erik is from Spain, Will is from Belgium and the rest of us were born and raised here in Aotearoa.

    Together we have bought 53 acres of land in a beautiful, rural landscape in Fairburn. The land consists of rolling pastures, big limestone boulders, native bush, and 2 rivers for exploring. Located within 20minutes of Kaitaia, Peria and 30 minutes from Doubtless Bay. It is 1.5hours drive to Cape Reinga.

    Our two families have come together with a shared vision of living a simple life on the land, surrounded by beautiful nature, connected to the elements and guided by the cyclical rhythms of a nature-connected life. We love the abundance that comes from living in community - sharing meals, childcare, tools, resources, and many good times.

    Each family has their own space on the land where we live and are creating gardens/food forests. We both have quite simple (slowly expanding) dwellings including outdoor showers, fire baths and compost toilets.

    Both families like to cook wholesome meals using food from the garden or local markets. We eat a lot of vegetarian meals, and some of us also eat meat.

    Hannah and Erik have a house bus, out door kitchen/hangout, a small cabin and are currently building a large shed. Hannah and Will have a cabin and a campervan.

    There is also a large amount of communal land which we intend to use for communal crops, regeneration and other communal projects. On the communal land we have a beautiful 30square meter yurt which is our communal hub - a space for sharing time together and with the kids, as well as for yoga, meditation, circles and workshops etc.

    Current weekly offerings in the yurt include a weekly “Wilderdance” - a morning of dance and cacao ceremony for adults and children. And we are soon to begin offering a weekly yoga/meditation/breathwork evening for adults.

    Collectively, we share a range of interests including permaculturally-minded gardening, foraging, travel, music, building with natural/salvaged materials, dance, yoga, meditation, breathwork, surfing, bodywork, wo/men’s circles, herbal medicine, arts and crafts, conscious communication/relationships, menstruality… and so on ;)

    Our current animal residents include 3 horses, a dog in each household, 1 cat, and plenty of chickens! Some cows are soon to be joining us too.

    There is cellphone reception but it is patchy and limited. No wifi. If you need access to wifi the nearest town is 20minutes away.

    Some of the shared values of our community are:
    * Respect and care for the land and all beings
    * Recognising the interconnectedness of all things, honouring the sacred and spiritual
    * Care for others, generosity and reciprocity
    * Self-responsibility - a willingness to look honestly at ourselves and our contribution to the difficulties we experience in life, and a desire to learn and grow alongside each other
    * Conscious communication, vulnerability and authenticity
    * Freedom and autonomy - respecting each persons right to make their own decisions, within a context of care and consideration of others
    * Care for self - free of abusive use of drugs and alcohol
