Last Minute!!!!
We have experienced that one month stay is a good period to get familiar with us, explore the area, and finalize little projects.
We mainly need skills in gardening and pet care. WorkAwayers should enjoy spending time in the garden, without mindind mosquitos, cuddling the 2 cats and exploring the area by walking the 2 dogs early mornings and evenings.
We are Pierpaolo/Pippo and Cristiana, both 60yrs but very young at heart!
We have been hosting WorkAwayers for the last 6 years and we continue to be very happy to meet wonderful young people. More than 45 have lived with us 1/2/3/4 months and we love to stay in touch after they leave.
Our home is a historical huge property with gardens. It has been renovated from 1985 as Pippo’s project for his big family. The place takes its name from a painter who lived the house in the second half of the 1800s.
Pippo-Architect travels a lot with his job and visits his 5 sons near Genova-le 5 Terre- as they run a farm and are in hospitality. Pippo is very good at manual work and is a very patient teacher. When home, he gives useful advices to the Workawayers.
Cristiana-photographer, lives part of the week in Milano, but plans the daily routine and organizes the cooperation of the Workawayers.
About our little town Giaveno and the area:
The mansion is placed in front of the church at la Borgata Buffa of Giaveno, it was built in 1700s and gently frescoed by the painter Francesco.
The village of La Buffa (which means 'cheerful'!) is only a 10 min walk from the city centre, but more green and peaceful.
Giaveno is a lively little town with street markets on weekends and farmers market every day. Offers plenty of Bars, Pubs, Pizzerias, and Restaurants.
To go to Torino: buses run regularly, less on weekends. Stop is 5 min down the road, the trip is around 45 min.
4.5km walk by 2 little lakes, or a different bus, will take you to the Medieval town of Avigliana.
Avigliana has the train station to Torino city centre (30min trip) and France (Frejus Tunnel)
Also close, is the Sacra di San Michele, a very well known touristic site.
The Piedmont Region is an interesting area to explore, with lakes and mountains nearby: Valle di Susa/Sestriere/ Montgenèvre/France
The town of Torino, the old capital of the Reign of Italy, is full of Castles, Museums and old palaces, a multi day trip to visit properly..
A mix of culture, nature, good food and special wines will offer you a full experience of the Italian way of life.
Our big house is divided into many well separated areas.
The WorkAwayers are hosted in their own independent flat within the property, which makes their stay with us even more special. Important for us is that spaces are cleaned every day. Couples generally enjoy their privacy and can spend time by themselves as we are not able to share a lot of time with them. Italian speakers preferred but not essential!
Workawayers have their own kitchen and should provide for their own meals. Sometimes we can share a lunch or a dinner, mainly when we are all working as a team, or we have friends over.
We expect the Workawayers to be: joyful, very very tidy in their spaces and all around the home, full of initiatives, well organized, independent in planning their everyday tasks. Cleaning (Italian way) is an expected everyday activity.
Are you good at arts & crafts? Painting and repairing is never finished in a big house...
The lovely garden, the inside/outside of the mansion, need quite a lot of maintenance, Workawayers cant get bored. Cleaning and sweeping around common areas are most appreciated. Skilled gardeners are more than welcome.
About us....
Pierpaolo is an Architect dealing with the restoration of ancient buildings, he is quite busy traveling. He is also the father of 5 grown boys who occasionally visit.
Cristiana was a busy Photographer before Covid19... now she spends more time in the garden.
Our dogs: Punch, a fantastic 12y Golden Retriever and Barbabuc, a 2y overactive Australian sheperd, both need to share the day with humans...
the 2 cats, Leo&Nino need a lot of pampering and a lot of food!
We offer...
a peaceful flat in the centre of a quiet village, beautiful countryside, close to the Alps mountains.
Running, trekking, biking, swimming, sailing, are all accessible.
About our Workawayers' private accomodation: bedroom, bathroom and living with kitchen.
The couples usually provide for themselves for their cooking.
WA's presence in the house is very precious, especially when Pippo&Cris are traveling: feed and look after the cats, occasionally after the dogs, water flowers, spend time in the garden, keep common areas in order.

We are offering an experience in an old and fashinating village of the Countryside around Torino. A beautiful frescoed mansion to live in. Fresh air during the summer, a beautiful garden to enjoy and look after, a veg garden to grow in a very relaxed attitude. The Workawayers will explore the surroundings and will be able to practice sports like: running, training, biking
Aide
We have become quite precise in our expectations after hosting so many different people in the past years.
Look for us if you are: of good and happy spirit, TIDY and helpful, GARDENERS, good at handicraft and painting, PET LOVERS.
In the Garden: daily maintenance, pruning and trimming, daily watering plants.
Your little separate apartment has to be cleaned every day (sorry for being so boring with tidiness) the house must be maintained as nice as possible, friends and clients are visiting regularly…
General care: help in keeping terraces and ground floor swept, from time to time we clean the windows.
We will plan the job including week-ends together, keeping to the 4 h. a day/5 days maximum help requested. We prefer
It will be most than welcome somebody speaking Italian.
We would prefer a couple as Giaveno and our area La Buffa are quite places and a couple can enjoy and share everyday activity when Pippo and Cristiana are not at home.
Again, Non smokers, dynamic, energetic, well organized and very tidy people are welcome.
You’ll have time to explore the region with Mountains, Lakes in Avigliana, Castles, and the town of Torino with many museums and palaces to visit .
We host for a period of minimum 3/4 weeks up to 3 months in order to make the experience memorable for us all.

Private, open plan space. A Bedroom and living area and a private bathroom and Kitchen in a little flat with a Terrace overlooking the main courtyard.
The house is furnished and equipped with everything you can need. The Workawayers are usually happy to be independent to cook and organize their own meals. We provide general needs at the arrival, then they provide to shop for themselves. From time to time we can share lunch or dinner especially when we are working in the garden together.
