Description
My husband and I have just bought a wonderful farm in the countryside of Serra de São Mamede, close to the towns of Marvão and Castelo de Vide. The landscape is stunningly beautiful. In 2026, we are starting our holiday farm there, slowly building up a therapeutic donkey farm primarily for families with children with special needs. We are going to live there with our baby and our dogs. In the future, we will also have donkeys and goats. Our farm is a place where you can be yourself and contribute your own strenghts.

Our place is mostly about getting into contact with the beautiful nature of the Serra de São Mamede. You can even see the Marvão castle from our farm. Both Marvão as well as Castelo de Vide are towns with a very rich cultural life.
Aide
Since we are having our baby in Germany in December, we are looking for someone who can housesit our farm before we move in ourselves in March (perfect timing would be if you could start as soon as possible and stay until the beginning of march). We primarily need someone to be there, to take care of heating and ventilation in all of the rooms, who doesn't mind the tranquility and potential loneliness on a farm in winter. Please help us to get our farm over the wintertime until we can start taking care of it ourselves! There are no animals on the farm yet.
It shouldn't take you more than 2 hours daily. The rest of the day is yours!

Hébergement
We offer a fully-equipped apartment that is also well-heated (not common in the area, but we've got heating!). It has beautiful views and is also designed to be cozy for a longer stay. You have bathroom, kitchen, living-room and a sleeping room, as well as terrace and 10 hectars of garden.
Unfortunately, we can not offer a car, because we don't live there ourselves yet. It is recommended to bring a car, because it is a rural environment with 3km to the next supermarket and town.

The region is perfect for hiking, visiting castles, villages and towns.
Please take into consideration that Portugal in winter is cool and wet. You will have it cozy inside because of our heating system, but you will definitely experience rainy days. Don't be fooled by experiences in the portuguese summer ;) Still, it is a beautiful here even in winter.
Please also note that the farm is in a rural area, so it can get quite lonely and quiet here. Maybe you can come here as a couple and bring your dog to keep you company. If you need some entertainment, the towns of Marvão and Castelo de Vide aren't far away, but they are not big!

It is definitely possible to do digital work while you're here. Please take some time every day to look after the farm, but it shouldn't take you more than 2 hours daily. The rest of the day is yours!
Espace pour garer des vans
It would be perfect if you are bringing your van, because this way you already have a car to get to the supermarket etc. - We still recommend you to stay inside of our house, since it is heated.
Possibilité d'accueillir les animaux
It is ok for us if you bring one or two well-behaved dogs.
